MsShadeA vigil is set tonight to remember Miss Shade, the 22-year old trans woman of color found dead in a vacant field off Riverside Drive in July.
While little else has been revealed since her body was first discovered, the vigil and ceremony is an opportunity to “look forward to the time when violence against all our trans siblings will end,” according to the event invite.
“[It is] an opportunity for attendees to speak to the meaning of loss and growth out of loss,” said event organizer Nell Gaither.
Shade is one of 18 transgender women to have been murdered so far this year, and the second in Texas.
The vigil begins at 7:30 p.m. in Reverchon Park, 2400 Turtle Creek Blvd, on the east side of the building.
