LGBTQ+ Victory Fund today (Monday, Feb. 9) announced its endorsement of Nicholas D. Palmer, who is running to become Place 8 justice on Texas’ Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. The endorsement “signals Victory Fund’s confidence that Palmer is well-positioned to win and serve as a strong voice for fairness, equal justice and the rule of law,” according to a press release announcing the endorsement.

Evan Low, Victory Fund’s president & CEO, said Palmer is “a passionate advocate for equal justice under law and understands that every appellate decision impacts the lives of real people — families, workers, and small businesses across North Texas. He brings the experience, temperament and commitment to fairness voters should expect from the bench.

“When he wins, Nicholas will help ensure the Fifth Court of Appeals reflects the communities it serves and will bring an important perspective to the cases that come before the court,” Low added.

Palmer said he is “honored to earn the endorsement,” adding that “Texans deserve a justice who will apply the law faithfully, treat every person with dignity, and ensure our courts remain accessible and fair for all.”

Palmer’s campaign highlights his record as a seasoned appellate advocate and public servant. He is board certified in both Civil Appellate Law and Labor and Employment Law, a distinction held by fewer than 1 percent of Texas attorneys, according to the press release.

Palmer has also argued or briefed cases in appellate courts including the U.S. Supreme Court, the Texas Supreme Court, and the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, the press releases notes, adding that, in his current role, Palmer serves as chief of the appellate section for the Dallas City Attorney’s Office, leading the team representing the ninth largest city in the country before state and federal appellate courts.

Palmer is also endorsed by Stonewall Democrats of Dallas, Dallas County Young Democrats, Preston Hollow Democrats, Lake Highlands/White Rock Democrats and the 23rd Senatorial District Tejano Democrats.

Victory Fund will promote Palmer’s endorsement among its national network of supporters.
