University of Texas at Dallas walled off its Pride mural with its message “You Belong Here” in the Student Services building. The school acted in response to a right-wing social media campaign by groups including Libs of Tiktok, who claimed it violated SB17.

In 2022, UT Dallas ranked 14th best university in the U.S. for LGBTQ+ students. Since SB 17 passed, the school removed every protective policy and resource including the Galerstein Gender Center. The school now ranks 240th out of 257 colleges and universities and worst among all Texas schools surveyed in its free speech rankings.
