Uptown Players’ big summer production of Priscilla Queen of the Desert — about three drag queen navigating the Australian Outback — doesn’t open until mid-July, but today the company and the show’s director, Cheryl Denson, announced two cast-members making their Uptown debuts.
Jack Donahue will play Bernadette, a role he created for the Zach Scott Theatre in Austin recently. He has worked in New York and L.A. And Blake McIver, acting since childhood, will take on the role of Felicia. They will be joined by Dallasite Dana Harper, who appeared on The Voice. Priscilla runs July 15–29 at the Kalita Humphreys Theater.
In addition, McIver, pictured, will assay his cabaret performance Blake Sings Barbra, in which he embodies La Streisand. That will take place on July 15. You can see a preview video of the cabaret below.
