Uptown Players announced on Tuesday that it has commissioned a new play by the team of James Berg and Stan Zimmerman. The play will be a sequel to the company’s 2023 premiere of Silver Foxes. The show was directed by Shrinking/Ugly Betty actor (and North Texas native) Michael Urie and sold out its entire run which was presented in the Theatre Three space.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with James Berg and Stan Zimmerman on this next chapter of Silver Foxes,” Craig Lynch, Executive Producer of Uptown Players said in today’s press release. “Their ability to weave humor and heart into narratives that resonate so deeply with audiences is extraordinary. This commission underscores Uptown Players’ commitment to fostering original works that shine a light on the richness and diversity of LGBTQ-plus experiences.”
Berg and Zimmerman are widely known for their Writers Guild of America (WGA) nominated work on The Golden Girls and Roseanne. And it looks like Uptown Players is getting the entire team back together again. The company confirmed in the press release that Urie has already signed on to direct the sequel as well.
