The Unleashed LGBTQ+ Conference and Festival returns to Dallas for its fourth year on Sept. 19-21, taking place “in the vibrant heart of the Oak Lawn gayborhood,” founder Wesley Smoot said this week, promising that the three day event will “once again spotlight some of the most influential voices in LGBTQ+ film, television, music, business, tech and beyond.”
Smoot said this year’s event will build on last year’s momentum, and will offer “a dynamic lineup” of speakers, panels, performances and live podcasts, “bringing together thought leaders, trailblazers and celebrity talent.

“Our goal is to create a safe and empowering space where people from across entertainment, business and LGBTQ+ culture can come together to explore what’s next,” Smoot said. “It’s a one-stop platform for launching new ideas and celebrating identity.”
Smoot said that opportunities for public participation are a new element in this year conference, whether someone wants to participate as a speaker, panelist or live performer.
Talent and special guests already confirmed for the event include iconic filmmaker John Waters, model and TV host Carmen Carrera, drag superstar Kennedy Davenport, consultant, professor and mother of House of Juicy Couture Naomi Green, and Free Mom Hugs and Mama Bears founders Sara Cunningham and Liz Dyer.
More will be announced in the weeks to come, Smoot said.
Pointing out that the final day of Unleashed is also the day that the annual Pride in Dallas Parade will take place on Cedar Springs, giving the “celebration a chance to spill out into the surrounding community” not just on that Sunday, but throughout the weekend, with events throughout Oak Lawn as well as the parade.
Unleashed LGBTQ+ 2205 is made possible with support from The Mark Cuban Foundation, Visit Dallas, Dallas Voice, the Local Media Association, Pride in Dallas, News is OUT and MINT Dentistry.
