The Trump administration announced on X it was pulling $175 million in funding from University of Pennsylvania because a trans person is participating in its swimming program.
The school has been under investigation by the administration since last month when Trump signed an executive order banning trans athletes from competing in women’s sports.
The money that as pulled from the school was from contracts with the Defense Department and Health and Human Services.
A spokesperson for the school said they had not gotten any details or even notification of the suspension, but said it was in compliance with NCAA and Ivy League rules.
