Following last month’s record $215,000 2023 Community Grants announcement to 39 LGBTQ nonprofits across Texas, Texas Pride Impact Fund announced an award of $10,000 to the Southern Trans Youth Emergency Project (STYEP). This grant is made possible by its QTCF 2023 fund, a collaboration with Equality Texas Foundation.

STYEP is a project of the Campaign for Southern Equality bringing assistance to Texas families of trans and gender diverse youth. This lifesaving and life-affirming initiative provides information, resources and emergency grants for families responding to the passage of SB14 which restricts healthcare for transgender youth.

The $10,000 award will fund Texas families of trans and gender diverse youth applying for direct financial assistance in their need to access competent healthcare out of state. Grants in amounts up to $500 will be made.

In a press release, TPIF wrote, “With our partner Equality Texas Foundation, fundraising continues for additional QTCF awards this year to organizations adding and retooling services and increasing security due to 2023 legislation in Texas passed with the assistance of well organized misinformation campaigns.”
