The new season of Top Chef: Las Vegas began with three gay chefs (two women, one man) and now the second woman has fallen. Last night, Ashley was kicked off for serving undercooked prawns and over-salted gnocchi.
But it looks like the lone remaining gay contestant, Ash, isn’t long for the series, either. He all but bootlicked teammate Michael, saying he was a superior chef with better skills than he. In fact, one of the weaknesses of this season is the seeming inevitability of the victories by brother Michael and Bryan, as well as Mike and Kevin. I have virtually no doubt that one of them will win — not that they will be the final four. There are always surprises. But the series has been boring because the quality of chefs is, frankly, too predictable. Sigh.

How do you quantify the quality of a chef as “predictable”???
If the gay chefs don’t make the grade do you write off the season as a loss??
