A letter I received, written to the DNC from the perspective of a gay man, shooting Obama’s rhetoric back at him:
I truly “support” Democrats being elected in 2010 and 2012. I am a “fierce advocate” of the Democratic Party after all. I know that I have promised you my support over the past few decades and have done my best to follow through.
Even now I am “working towards” a financial donation to the Party. I do have to ask for your “patience” though, because as a gay man, my family and I are still second class citizens and are having to funnel our resources towards causes that protect and honor our basic civil rights. “We have a lot on our plate.”
We are “proceeding” towards lifting the denial of funds to the DNC and are “developing a strategy” that will get us there by the end of Obama’s time at the White House. As a matter of fact, my family has planned several “meetings” to discuss these very important donations and will be sending out a press release shortly to announce our “cocktail party” celebrating Democracy.
Thanks for understanding. And hang in there!
Fabulous! I’ve never considered Obama anything more than a politician, so my expectations aren’t high, yet he still fails to meet my expectations. I truly “support” Democrats being elected, but I foresee a lot of disillusionment among especially younger voters and new voters who put blind trust in Obama. Again, this is letter is creatively composed and perfectly rendered. Obama shouldn’t just talk the talk. He should walk the walk.
Politican are elected for good lip service, not because they WILL do something. This is the time for President Obama to show the LGBT community he’s a man of his word and more importantly, a tolerant president who respects ALL citizens of this country.
I agree completely with the tone of the letter, and know that after 8 years of Bush we are ready for change and ready for it now. However, I do think we need to give Obama a little more than 6 months before we turn our back on him. I for one am waiting patiently. Let the man get some of these huge under takings out of the way, and then see what he can do. We ll know that health care is essential and will be tough to pass, so let him concentrate on that. It effects us too. I fully expect that Obama is on our side, but we all know the other side needs very little ammunition to get everyone riled up. Give him a break, and lets see what he can do. Not to say take the pressure off completely, but if he says he’s with us, lets give him a little room to work.
you’re a bunch of fools!
Obama can care less about homosexuals, he broke his promise to make this country more acceptable towards gays..he’s not gay friendly at all. he’s a pure politician.
all he cares is to fix bridges with the islama world and to “change” our health care system to get free care to people that don’t pay taxes!!!
