The Texas Elite Spartans, the number one-ranked team in the Women’s National Football Conference, close out their regular season home schedule May 9 with an “historic and culture-defining event” on Saturday, May 9, as they host the Kansas City Glory in the “Her Legacy Game: Honoring Every Woman Who Built the Game.”

The game starts at 6 p.m. at Maverick Stadium, 1307 W. Mitchell St. Tickets are available at Texas Elite Women’s Football.

Expected to be the largest gathering of women’s tackle football players in Texas history, the Her Legacy Game will “unite generations of athletes who helped build women’s tackle football, from pioneers who played when there was no platform to today’s elite professionals competing on the global stage,” notes a press release about the event.

Athletes who played with “some of women’s football’s most influential early teams” will be honored and are expected to attend, including players from the Houston Herricanes, the Dallas Bluebonnets and the OKC Dolls.

“This game is about giving flowers to those who built the foundation,” noted WNFC Founder and Texas Elite Spartans Head Coach Odessa Jenkins. “Every woman who steps on that field today is standing on the shoulders of those who played when there were no cameras, no sponsorships and no guarantees of the other team showing up. This night is about legacy and respect.”
