After a soft opening on April 16, the new Subway store on Cedar Springs is gearing up for a grand opening weekend June 11-13.
Other Subway franchise owners in the area who’ve been by the new Cedar Springs restaurant were impressed.
“They’ve been calling us the Taj Mahal of Subways,” said gay owner Chet Whisenant.
He said it’s the first Subway with granite counter tops and vessel sinks in the restrooms. The store also has big-screen TVs and an outdoor seating area.

Whether other franchisees are jealous or not is not clear, but Whisenant said they commented that to fit into the neighborhood, this store would have to be “off the hook.”
“My goal is to give back to the neighborhood,” he said.
For the opening weekend, a portion of sales will go to LifeWalk, which benefits AIDS Arms and about 10 other area agencies. The main fundraising walk will take place on Oct. 10 beginning in Lee Park.
He said the store will also participate in Waterpalooza and mentioned the number of new jobs that went to people from the neighborhood. Waterpalooza also benefits LifeWalk and will be July 25 in the parking lot behind Station 4.
Whisenant is talking to Sam Houston School about helping to provide healthy school lunches for the 25 children who are in the summer school program.
Whisenant said business has been good. One of his busiest times has been Saturday night after the bars close. He said his closing time on Friday and Saturday is 3 a.m., but last week they stayed open and busy until after 4 a.m.
For opening weekend, Subway is offering a BOGO (buy one, get one) special. Buy one 6-inch sandwich and a drink and get a second 6-inch sandwich free. Who can argue with a free 6 inches?рекламные агентства ульяновска
