A journey to any of Mexico’s coasts is often all it takes to enhance your well-being — especially when your destination is Cabo San Lucas. Its vibrant beaches and infinite horizons, where the sea meets the sky, possess a unique ability to restore the spirit.

So instead of a destination, envision a “Conscious Cabo” experience — a mindful retreat where you and your companions — whether they be family, friends or, in this case, fellow journalists — can go beyond a typical vacation to truly rejuvenate and refresh.]

According to travel sites Booking.com and Expedia.com, vacation trends are more about intent and less about revelry.

Booking.com noted the rise of “Boyz II Zen” as a movement leaning toward wellness-focused, male-only retreats over any type of cliched bro trips. Mental health, full-on rest and personal growth have expanded as reasons for a getaway.

Meanwhile, Expedia Group highlighted a shift toward “JOMO” in its “Unpack ‘25’” report — a trend that leans into the “joy of missing out” as a cornerstone of the modern wellness escape.

Corazón Cabo Resort and Spa is one destination determined to provide a stay filled with tranquility and mindfulness as well as the thrill of Cabo’s beauty and vibrancy. The resort launched its own Concierge Experience in response to this new trend.

Through classes, spa treatments and a thoughtful welcome, Corazón Cabo has done the homework on not only introducing new guests to Cabo San Lucas, but in offering a comforting serenity.

A ride to the resort from the airport takes just shy of an hour but offers a glimpse of the city and its varied landscapes, from bustling urban retail to desert patches.

The resort is an imposing structure, but inside, the architecture of Corazón Cabo (CorazonCabo.com) has a soothing feel through its wavy architectural lines and peaceful entrance, despite the number of people going in and out.

Corazón Cabo, the area’s newest luxury resort, is located on Medano Beach. The hotel offers more than 300 luxury guest rooms and suites plus two infinity pools and a beach club.

The resort also includes Cabo’s highest rooftop bar and the city’s only micro-brewery.
Located on the sixth floor was the room with a view that looked out toward the Arch of Cabo San Lucas where the Sea of Cortez meets the Pacific. As part of the “wellness welcome,” the room introduced the resort with a lovely DIY cocktail and guacamole kit for a relaxing sip and snack.

A mix of modern lines and Mexican aesthetic, the room was spacious and comforting through its stylish mix of neutral colors and fabrics, with just enough lushness to not feel guilty about bedrotting for hours if one wanted.

But there was no time for lazing about with an itinerary that showed off all Corazón Cabo had to offer.

Sustenance is crucial for any wellness trip, and the first night kicked off with a tequila tasting featuring the resort’s own line of tequilas. This led to a dinner of heavy tapas showcasing the seafood at the oceanfront onsite restaurant Aleta, where all meals were hosted and which includes a peaceful patio for breakfast and brunch.

Located in the slight depths of the resort was SpaRitual. A massage was cut short by a power outage, but the staff handled it with ease and expanded the spa’s peaceful vibe with candles all around. A hot tub was the first stop, with lounge seats offset by the dressing rooms. Staff was attentive in the waiting area with tea and snacks in hand, and amenities were abundant.

Despite the power outage, the massage certainly allowed my body and brain to pause and simply relax through music, aromatherapy and skilled hands.

On the flip side, Corazón Cabo inspires through classes in its Corazón Beach Club. Sessions on mocktails and ceviche making allowed for more immersive experiences with tasty results. On the beach itself, the sunrise yoga class was both a blissful and physical start to the day.

The beautiful Rooftop 360 atop the 9th floor was, to me, a personal highlight. The space was a beautiful respite to lounge in during the day. At night, we gathered for conversation over drinks with an evening breeze as accompaniment.

Punctuating the trip was an eight-course dinner at Farol16 featuring a well-curated selection of shareable plates that were innovative takes on traditional bites paired with appropriate wines in the restaurant’s collection. We boarded a small yacht via Corazón Charters to tour the Sea of Cortez and the Arch.

The formation marks the extreme end of the Baja California peninsula which alone was remarkable. Up close, though, the rocks and the arch were nothing short of magical. With the boat turned off and a lulling idle among the waves, the entire scene was an unreal must-do experience. The natural beauty was enough to find your zen.

There is much to be said about a vacation destination that prioritizes peace of mind, and the resort stepped up to that challenge. Through food, environment and the polite and knowledgeable staff, Corazón Cabo allowed for a blissful experience that was both centering and celebratory. What’s more, it armed this traveler with a certain calm heading back into the hustle and bustle of home.
