The Dallas Opera announces two concert events among its fall schedule of dates

On Thursday, The Dallas Opera (TDO) announce its fall lineup of events that include its mainstage production operas, free community events, family programming and the newly announced details for its annual People’s Choice and Holiday concerts. The organization announced its full 2025/26 season back in March.
On Oct. 4, TDO will host its annual People’s Choice Concert at the Winspear. The cast of TDO’s upcoming Carmen will sing selections from the opera, as well as music from Mozart, Donizetti, and Bernstein. Per tradition, the audience will vote for the encore. This performance is free but reservations are required. Registration opened Aug. 28 (today!).
TDO executive producer Ian Derrer will host the evening with Paolo Bressan conducting. Performers include mezzo-sopranos Marina Viotti and Kristen Choi, soprano Diana Newman, tenor Matthew Goodheart and baritone Kyle Miller.
On Dec. 13, TDO will host its Holiday Concert, now in its fourth year. The performance will be held at the National Shrine Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Throughout the free event, The TDO Orchestra musicians and featured singers will perform festive favorites of the season. More information and ticket sales dates will be announced later this season.
TDO also reminded of its Opera Truck appearances this fall. The free educational pop-ups feature 30-minute family-friendly operas sung in English on a mobile outdoor stage set up on the flatbed of an 18-wheel big-rig and driven out into the community. All performances begin at 11 a.m.
Opera Truck schedule:
NorthPark Center, Oct. 25;
Martin Luther King, Jr. Branch Library, Nov. 1;
Highland Hills Branch Library, Nov. 8 and
Bachman Lake Branch Library, Dec. 6.
And TDO kicks off its new season of productions with Bizet’s Carmen which opens Oct. 17 and runs through Oct. 6 at the Winspear. See the full schedule of productions both mainstage and family series in the link above or on DallasOpera.org.
City of Lewisville and Lewisville Playhouse partner for new centennial production
As part of Lewsville’s Centennial Celebration, Lewisville Playhouse has teamed with the city to present Old Town Neighbors.
The story centers on a young girl and her father living in Old Town Lewisville who decide to move from the house where her deceased mother grew up. Ghosts from the house’s past emerge chronicling the city’s past 100 years and beyond.
Old Town Neighbors is an original play written by Zachary Cantrell and directed by Lindsey Humphries. Both the city and the theater present the show in honor of Lewisville’s 100th birthday in 2025.
The show opens Sept. 12 and runs through Sept. 21 at the Lewisville Grand Theater, 100 N. Charles St. Tickets and more information are available here.
First look at The Niceties cast at Theatre Three

Ahead of its season opener, Theatre Three introduced The Niceties cast. The show opens Sept. 18 and runs through Oct. 12 in the Theatre Too space. The thought-provoking drama by Eleanor Burgess will be directed by Sasha Maya Ada.
From T3:
This two-character play features Krista Scott (Janine) and Nicole Renee Johnson (Zoe) and follows a discussion between an ambitious young Black student at an elite East Coast university and her esteemed white professor who meet to discuss a paper about the American Revolution.
What begins as a polite clash in perspective explodes into an urgent debate about race and power. In a time when instead of listening we’re waiting to offer an opinion, this play takes an empathetic view of both sides of a conversation we all need to be ready to have.
