Kay Mathews and Wendy Churitch renewed their vows in front of the Dallas Records Building today at noon to mark Freedom to Marry Day. They were legally married in Iowa last August. Both are grandmothers.
Mathews said, “Today is not about us.” She said it was about the more than 1,200 rights offered to couples whose marriages are recognized by government.
Rev. Daniel Kanter, senior minister at First Unitarian Church of Dallas performed the ceremony in the snow.
He said, “We stand with you on the side of rights” and “Religions of hate miss the point.”
A group of supporters carried signs that read “End Marriage Segregation Now.”
Rev. Faust and his band of merrymakers from Mansfield did not show up.
WOW, looks like it was a great event. Did the Faust clan come out?
The devil himself, Dr. Faustus, did not attend.
God hates ugly and he made sure de-icing crews left their asses stranded in the woods.
LOL Tisha! That is great!!! Was there a good turn out? I am so bummed I was not there. I am stuck at work covering since so many of my staff is out
David, that’s a great shot of Wendy and Kay. And Wendy and Kay, I am so proud of you guys for taking part in this event and standing up for all of us. Congrats on your SECOND wedding!
