Bobby Jack Singleton was just found guilty as charged of aggravated robbery in the July 2008 beating of Jimmy Lee Dean in Oak Lawn. A jury of seven men and five women deliberated for only one hour before announcing its verdict. Singleton’s trial now moves into the penalty phase. He is facing five to 99 years. Prosecutors are expected to ask for a longer sentence for Singleton than the one given to his co-defendant, Jonathan Gunter, who got 30 years.

Glad he was found guilty of aggravated robbery and not just the assault charge. These people are the lowest of the low in our society and they deserve to be put away for the longest time possible.
If we had a federal hate crimes bill this attack would have been correctly identified as a hate crime and the penalties would have included many additional years.
I hope this low life receives the maximum penalty allowed.
