Saturday’s “Utopia” runway blowout was near-perfect. With an a capella version of The Beatle’s “Because,” the show began with a psychedelic nod to Julie Taymor’s “Across the Universe.” And it kind of ended with little girls playing in mommy’s makeup drawer.
Man, this economy bites. Before the runway show started, the live auction was tough to watch. Incredible vacation packages were going to bids that were … not so high. Not that I was raising my hand either.
However, the video pieces about Dallas people living with HIV were exceptionally well produced and practically made everyone stop eating and remember why we were there. Nevertheless, the catwaking portion was terrific.
If you didn’t go, here’s what you missed.
