Best Drag Queen
May May Graves

May May Graves is the kind of queen who does it all. Since releasing her debut album, Monsters, in 2018, she has owned and managed a burlesque studio, worked on another album and started writing a book — all while continuing to serve fierce looks. After doing drag for more than 15 years, she has perfected her ’80s horror movie “Final Girl” style. Much of her inspiration comes from Siouxsie Sioux, Vanity 6 and Poly Styrene as well as Jennifer Tilly and Linnea Quigley.

The fictitious backstory of this queen is one of a blue-haired girl who died in 1989 and woke up in her own grave decades later. Graves’ real history starts with the Church of Christ where she got comfortable entertaining large crowds through preaching. Now she performs for the queer crowds of JR.’s and S4. Her own style differs from traditional pageant drag, looking more like something from a nightmare with ghostly white make-up and macabre designs.

Embodying the spirit of Halloween all year round, May May Graves has taken DFW by storm and shows no sign of slowing down. You can find her hosting the Happy Hour of Horror at Charlie’s Star Lounge every second Tuesday of the month, and all her music is available to stream online.

Logan Liqueur

Maybe the drag QUEENS are the ones getting all the attention these days from the politicians, but the drag KINGS are out there too, working just as hard at their craft and for their community. And this year’s RVA winner for Best Drag King, Logan Liqueur, is making his mark on the DFW drag scene. Logan — billed as “the cock, the tail AND the tease” — performs with Mustache Envy at Sue Ellen’s, at Moondance Brunch and, of course, at Buck Wylde’s Sausage Party. Check your local listings for Logan’s next performance and get your own taste of the tease.
