Each year as part of our annual Readers Voice Awards campaign, Dallas Voice puts the names of everyone who votes in the RVAs into a hat, and from that pool we draw the name of one person. That one person wins a pocketful of prizes each year; this year’s list of prizes includes dinner at Cremona Bistro Italian Kitchen, tickets to a show by Uptown Players and $500 in cash.
This year’s lucky winner is Rob Morse-Elington of Garland. And here’s our chance get to know him a little better:
Where do you live: Garland
What kind of work do you do: I am the senior estimating manager for an architectural sign and EGD company based out of the Bay Area in California.
Do you have a partner, and if so, what is their name: I am single.
Do you have kids or pets: I have two rescue dogs: Bogey and Lola. Both are spoiled rotten!
What prompted you to vote in the Readers Voice Awards: I vote every year because I feel it is important to recognize and uplift local talent and organizations. I can’t even remember how many years now I’ve been voting in the Readers Voice Awards.
What do you plan to do with the prize money: I honestly don’t know yet, but I’ll most likely treat myself to something I normally wouldn’t.
Anything else you want to add: As a Dallas Bears member, I have the privilege of seeing more of our LGBTQ+ community than probably most, so I love the fact that we have a local newspaper that shines a light on local people, events and topics so that more are aware of just how robust our circle is.
