With a Pantheonic background and severe allusions to the theme of her Aphrodite Tour, Kylie Minogue and crew were clearly high on showmanship. Fantastic imagery in both the set and costumes were well done and recalled a combination of a Las Vegas stage show and an uber-gay Caligula. Despite all its spectacle, something was missing from the entire show. That seemed to be Kylie.
The boys came out in droves for Kylie at the Verizon Theatre last night. The girls, well, they were there, too. Upon walking into the venue, the stage was magnificent with its descending stairs and digital Greek columns, not to mention a large squadron of dancers. And there she was in all her glory with her Grecian-draped costume and winged ears. Opening with “Aphrodite,” she appeared to the hordes of screaming men in the audience. It was an impressive beginning. I dug the dancing gladiators.
But the visual onslaught began to be too much. And while she was clearly live on the microphone, she seemed hazy in her delivery. She screamed out to the audience several times and gave nods to Dallas, but they felt more squeezed in because the show is so tightly wound. She ascended on a golden Pegasus, which got hollers, but it didn’t amount to anything and it was after the show began. A big bust (of Aphrodite? Kylie? Kylie as Aphrodite?) appeared later and just sat there. Flying birds? Cool. What should I be doing? I began to question what it meant other than to show an embarrassment of riches. None of which helped her performance.
With dancers all around her and big, showy, shiny outfits, she was surrounding herself with high energy but relied on that so as not to dole out any herself. I never saw her dance up a number and she struck more poses than a season of America’s Next Top Model. She tried to play with the audience and she really is adorable, but it was like her Ambien had kicked in. Plus, I didn’t know what to watch — the special effects, the dancers, the practically nude male acrobats or her. Everything else onstage was drawing my attention; Kylie commanded none of it. Where was the superstar that ruled the pop international scene and domestic gay boys?
The overabundance of spectacle just seemed to be hiding what she should have been doing — owning the show. I didn’t see Kylie Minogue at all here, but her stage and set designers have left a lasting impression. Which I don’t want to undermine either. The costumes were top notch. Some of the dancers looked better in their showgirl outfits than her in her free-flowing toga. The sets were astonishing and the props were pretty cool. But for her to really just walk around, strike poses and dither about against her heavy-beat disco music never worked, and it was a huge disappointment from such a seasoned artist.
I have to disagree. Considering that she’s fought her way back from cancer, is making an effort to entertain her small U.S. Fanbase, and judging by the imagery and themes throughout the show, apparently trying to appease her gay fans- I though the show was an amazing spectacle. I’ve been a Kylie fan since 87, have imported all albums, DVDs and singles not available domestically, and drive up from OKC to see the show. I danced my ass off and was sad to see it end. I hope she does decide to tour the states again.
You never like anything. They need to hire someone less bitter to do your job. I thought she killed it. She is 40- something years old, what do you expect her to do, hump the dancers? She has presence, poise, and class besides a REAL voice. Sorry she is not the latest Gaga-come lately for you.
Ms. Lopez, you completely missed the point of La Kylie. I question if you even stayed for the entire show? Were even there for her ballad “If You Don’t Love Me” or when she took requests from the audience and sang ” Your Disco Needs You”, per the request of four ‘mos in the front row who had made custom tees? She sang the request a cappella no less (her band eventually joined in), which really demonstrated her vocals. I’d urge you to come down out of that ivory tower…errr suite that I imagine you were in, and enjoy what everyone else in the audience was clearly eating up! Also your point about her shout outs to Dallas seeming squeezed in, is absolutely false, she all but had a roundtable discussion later in the show with the audience, and if she said Dallas once, she said it a thousand times! Perhaps you simply just aren’t that in Kylie, which I can understand, but to say her performance was lacking and that she wasn’t present, I’d have to beg to differ, as would the thousands of other fans that were dancing the night away!
I thought it was a great show. Incredible set and costumes, great energy. Loved seeing Kylie in person.
… and you are???? KYLIE was totally AMAAAAZING and the show OVER THE TOP!! Perhaps you should write about food or maybe wine since this review makes no sense at all.
Yes, Loretta, you are totally right. I thought the best part was when she sat down and sang to us acapella “If You Don’t Love Me”…very Judy Garland-esque. She was clearly overcome with all of the love shouted back to her in reponse. And LOL at Ms. Lopez!
Short and sweet, it was my first time seeing Kylie live. Always been a huge fan. I thought the production was amazing all around.
Paul, you and I are basically cycle sisters up in here. I’m loving you! Ms. Lopez does love to hate! And yes, totally Judy-esque.
Sorry Richie you are way off base. Kylie is the consumate professional. She’s not dancing around (or should I say whoring around) stage because she IS singing. She was in fine voice and was in total control of that stage. I saw the Houston show as well and while the Houston show was much smaller and lacked some of the special effects, it made up for it in intimacy. Maybe that is what you needed, but I doubt it. You seem predisposed to dismissing a rare opportunity to see a world class star. What should you be doing? Exactly.
I somewhat agree with the writer. I felt at times there WAS too much going on. Each element was visually stunning, but as the saying goes “Before you leave the house take one thing off.” That should have happened for some of the numbers.
Vocally she was great but she just didn;t move much. I know she is not much of a dancer but she could do more. I have seen her do more. And maybe not every song but give us a few. It still was a great experience. She is a beautiful class act that I would see again.
Rich is being pretty fair. It’s perfectly okay to have an elaborate production but, as a performer, you still need to find a way to be focused and engaging and not hide behind your dancers. Its clear that Rich likes Kylie he just wished she’d been a bigger focal point of the show instead of being consumed by it.
Completely disagree with Mr. Lopez – were y’all around for the bollywood breakdown in the first set? And one other person mentioned it, but I shall reiterate: Ms. Minogue is all about CLASS and has been her entire career. She exudes sex without being pornographic about it (ala Madonna, Britney, Christina, etc.). I don’t know where you were sitting (as I assume you were b/c your review is so bitter), but for the screaming dancing queens in the pit, this show was stellar. You do realize, as well, that this is the exact same show that was in stadiums in Europe (sanz the water element). I am so happy she didn’t strip down the show one bit for us. I am sorry you didn’t get the message or energy that was palpable around her, you really missed out. In addition, maybe you should consider another career, beside the fact that your review is poor, it’s not even detailed. Finally, you are one of maybe 5 concert reviewers to NOT like this show, that has been around the world, so that should give you perspective. You are on the outside looking in.
It doesn’t cost too much to do a little bit of research online and find out where she is coming from. Also, what it was “too much” for Mr. Lopez, is because the show was originally designed to entertain a bigger venue, an arena like the ones she has been performing in Europe and Australia. She brought the ‘scaled-down’ version. The spectacle was never branded as a concert but as a show.
Kylie, never really recognized as a singer but only as trained vocalist, delivers, she truly does. It really looks so simple to moving around the stage, singing, in high heels, going up and down, changing outfits, (hiding behind) dancers like you imply, and still connecting with the audience and yet, why other singers, consolidated or newcomers, they don’t succeed at doing the same?
You can only hide *this* much, but at the end, which other showman/girl can hold a presence like Kylie? I count on the fingers of only one hand.
Matt, I don’t see that it’s “clear that Rich likes Kylie” from this review, but he shouldn’t have to write an accurate review. It’s not fair to bitch about what Kylie didn’t do.?!?! Were you there? The only thought I can offer in support for your and MsN’s POV is that ‘Les Folles Aphrodite’ was designed for mega-venues. It’s possible that the production was squeezed into a smaller space, but that just concentrates the nectar.
Ms. Lopez, now pray tell us that you are a Brittney Spears or Lady Gaga fan and that you like their sound n voice much better. That would really explain it all. Actually its not your fault. You are so used to mediocre vocal stylings add to your lack of knowledge about 80s and the 90s and the rest of the world (other than continental united states), you really don’t know the meaning of real talent. Rightly so you were lost when you saw Kylie perform. Its not your fault. But be glad Lady Gaga is still alive and making music and Brittney will continue to lip-sync till you start getting older and your hearing aids won’t allow to grace their concerts. But till then, live on and enjoy their music and stay away from the likes of Kylie, simply because for you, ignorance is bliss – you know what talent is and hence you just belong in your blissful world… What is that ahain? Kwaa kwaa bow wow waa waa gaa gaa blaa blaa…. Ya right!!
Wow! were we at the same show.. she was magnificent!!.. Kylie has never put on shows that involved her doing lots of dancing.. its not her thing. .yes she strikes poses.. she is a showgirl not a dancer.. obviously you are not a fan and seem a bit BLAH yourself.. never did she seem sleepy.. as for the props ect.. her Show was taken down a notch to tour North America.. her fans appreciate that she made the effort to put on a great show for her North american fans.. only her 2nd time to tour the states and she did her best to bring the HUGE european show.. ..perhaps you should find a new profession..
I’ll be seeing Kylie here in San Francisco this Saturday and reviewers like this can “SUCK IT”! Reviewers expect Kylie to be like Madonna, Lady Gaga or Britney…but guess what?!?! She’s not! Kylie sings live and is not slutty or weird by being in an egg or wearing a meat dress! I am surprised (yet happy) Kylie is back in the U.S. a 2nd time with these nasty reviewers who are negative before Kylie hits the stage! But shes here for the fans and ONLY the fans!
Ben, if Rich didn’t like Kylie he could have been far more savage. His criticism had to do with her performance and lack of engagement not her music. I’ve been to enough concerts to know that you can appreciate a performer’s music but be disappointed in their live performance. And to point out what a performance is lacking is perfectly legitimate criticism; especial if she’s a dance pop artist that doesn’t dance. As far as the show being meant to for a larger venue, I don’t see your point? Isn’t part of her job to adjust her performance?
Clearly you have no idear what you are on about mate!!! I am seeing Kylie in June in Melbourne, i have been watching ever show on youtube….. She is OUT OF THIS WORLD GOOD!!!! And i no i don’t have had too have seen it yet too no its going to be the best SHOW of 2011 and if not ever till she tours again! Ever tour Kylie dose gets better and better!!!!! You clearly have no idear what you are talking about, so go review somthing you no what you are tallking about! KYLIE IS THE QUEEN OF POP and knows what shes doing, so back off, leave ya knifes at home and stay away from Kylies shows!!!!! 🙂
Matt saying that there were “severe allusion” in the first sentence of your review is pretty darn savage. She is not a dancer, and never has been. DID YOU SEE HER LOUBOUTINS SHE WAS SPORTING? Try dancing in those!!! Further, you haven’t answer the question: WERE YOU AT THE CONCERT? If not, kindly relegate yourself to spectator, because she was TOTALLY engaging with the crowd.
This was a lazy review and I completely disagree with your opinion. If I wanted to see a 30-year-old pop star dance her ass off while lip-syncing, I would’ve gone to a different show.
Kylie sang non-stop, sincerely appreciated her Dallas audience despite the low attendance, and radiated with an energy I haven’t seen from a performer in years, if ever (certainly not from Madonna). I couldn’t stop dancing. This concert blew me away.
My favorite part of the night came when the audience, out of nowhere, roared with applause and a perfectly synced burst of adoration after one of her songs (can’t remember which one, but it gave me goose bumps). She seemed surprised by that and said she “definitely felt the love” during that moment.
Listen here, La Lopez, I’m going to tell you like Rufus Wainwright told us in 2006: ‘I love Kylie, she’s the anti-Madonna. Self-knowledge is a truly beautiful thing and Kylie knows herself inside out. She is what she is and there is no attempt to make quasi-intellectual statements to substantiate it. She is the gay shorthand for joy.’
I made dinner reservations for you and James Nowlin: Bitter, party of two.
Wrong, wrong, wrong. Oh god, this is so wrong. I saw the show, she freaking killed. She cooed. She purred. She opened her mouth and out poured a golden cocktail shaken with diamond ice. This reviewer needs to piss off. God, what a party pooper
I think all the writers should be careful when they are writing about Ms Minogue as she never does lip-sync in any of her shows and she interacts with the audience in the entire show (there are always a connection in her show). She’s in the music industry for over two decades. And yes, Kylie doesn’t need to dance (that where the dancers are for) or do political/religion stance as she has her own poise and class. Her US fan base is not huge in numbers, but they are loyalty and adore her since the beginning of her courier. This is a rare opportunity to see her show in US. So please do research before you write the review about her.
urban hipster wrote “appreciated her Dallas audience despite the low attendance.”
Low attendance – on what do you base that? I was one of those dancing queens in the pit. I turned around during the show to see how many people were there. Besides a small contiguous block of seats that had no one in them, the place looked pretty full to me.
I have only one small complaint during an otherwise spectacular show : I couldn’t hear her that well. I suspect it’s the arrangement of the speakers, being focused more on providing sound for the majority of the people in the seats, rather than the small number of people in the pit. I suppose that’s a small downside to getting to be 20 feet away her much of the time.
I saw the Houston show as well. That one had none of the elaborate sets or production numbers of the Dallas show, because of the small stage. I think I’ve seen bigger stages in high school auditoriums than I did in Houston. The Houston audience was rather subdued, as well, and I don’t think she was as engaged with them as in Dallas. The Dallas audience on the other hand was raucous and adoring. Kylie responded by beaming and putting on a great performance – she was definitely not phoning it in last night.
This is the first ever negative review the tour has ever received. Who is this critic? again WHO? Kylie killed it. I think everyone else would agree that Kylie DELIVERED. Much more than Britney ever has, Shakira, Beyonce and i’ll say it, MADONNA. Sorry Mr. Critic – I think you are just a Kylie hater. This publication should send someone to concerts who actually likes the artist. Kylie – we love you, come back and ignore this silly critic. He was apparently on the ambien.
Look at that, a bitter queen. Your review is so inaccurate, it’s even unbelievable that this newspaper is letting someone who is so wrong in his review maintain this job. I see 20+ comments saying how great it was so that really tells me how much you lost your credibility. You also look like you don’t know your material either. Kylie is known for her poses, not for dancing, so yeah that explains the poses dummy. Next time, do us a favor, stay home. We don’t care to read your stupidity online miss lopez.
GET SOME ASS BITCH U BITTER PERSON HATER PARTY OF ONE!
OMG are you KIDDING ME??!!!? Who the HELL is the reviewer here? L O L’s all around to this review. I will never trust another review by him. Did you even stay for the whole show man?? You are freaking nuts. That show was the BEST show I have seen in years. Full of heart and amazing musicianship! You want her to dance, do you? So I guess you’d rather her lip synch so she could do a dance for you? Newsflash: Kylie is not a dancer, she sings dance music so that WE can flippin dance. Duh. This is why I don’t read reviews. I wish I had never clicked on that stupid post in the first place. Fire this person!!
What tha hell did you want her to do with the bust , of course it sat there thats what statues do you F@!$%$ Lame ass . Yes it was her and to say she was flaunting embarrasement of wealth and the something missing from the show was Miss Lopez!!!! You contradict yourself. (Flying birds? Cool. What should I be doing? I began to question what it meant other than to show an embarrassment of riches. None of which helped her performance.) then you make the statement of her adoring fans INCLUDING ME!!! saying (
but they felt more squeezed in because the show is so tightly wound) you should watch what you say!!!!! you are falsely representing myself and the others that fought (almost got my hair ripped out) to be part of the electricity and love that was radiating like sunshine from Kylie!!! I thought the performance was awesome Kylie spent every moment engaged to her audience Kylie is a Charismatic, Amazing, Artist. If you were having a difficult time understanding the aura and energy last night perhaps its because you had your head stuck up your butt . Were you even listening ? Your just rediculous and jelous because you were in the cheap ass back row and wished you could have felt the power! of what was really going on.!! and f.y.i. since u are a broke wanna be writer next time you write a review actually try to think about what your writing. dont lie about how other people are feeling!!!! did you interview anyone or where you personally informed that anyone was feeling squeezed in!??? YOU are such an amature! “Flying birds? Cool. What should I be doing? to answer your question, Angels and you should be setting yourself on fire.
Seriously, the only embarrasment is that the DALLAS VOICE allowed the printing of what is the most ridiculous and more importantly INACCURATE review ever. What concert were you at anyway? Her vocals being HAZY? Really? How many artist’s sing mostly live, acapella, and on top of that display a beautiful OPERATIC range? Not owning the stage? I didn’t see a single person not hanging on her every word, command, or plea. I understand those, including myself that love her are biased, but come on. I could not imagine her putting on a better show, and at that she completely exceeded my expectations and I have an even higher respect for her because of this concert. You have no idea what you are talking about. You really should be fired or demoted to mail delivery person that knows nothing of talent or entertainment.
Now, I’d like to see that “thing” dance so I can also write a half-assed review about it. https://a1.twimg.com/profile_images/663340246/RandomPic.jpg
@STEVE……LMAO…..Touché!
@William there is no way in hell Kylie brought it more than Beyonce or Shakira. NO WAY in an arctic blue hell. And I don;t even like Beyonce but the woman can perform her ass off you have to give it to her. Shakira is fantastic live too!
what’ are you talking about?
kylie was awesome! sang live and engaged the audience!
Mr. Lopez, I don’t know what kind of drugs you were taking that night, but next time perhaps attend the concert sober!
@amateur kylieologist: I meant “low attendance” because I didn’t see people in the upper tier and the pit was not full of people (I sat in the first row after the pit, so I could tell). It wasn’t a jab at Kylie or her tour but more about her inability to fill a larger venue like American Airlines. I wish she could!
Anyway, Mr. Lopez, thank you for writing this awful review because I’ve gotten quite a few chuckles reading the comments section.
I have seen 3 concerts this year already: Janet, Gaga, Kylie…And let me tell you Kylie gave Gaga a ran for her money for the top performance thus far.
Sitting up in the seats, I thoroughly enjoyed the show and I was standing for most of the show dancing and taking in all the imagery that was presented to us. The videos, the trapeze artists, and the dancers were so world class. What island does she find those hot male dancers on? Sign me up for a vacation there soon.
I thought she was thoroughly engaged in the show. I noticed the show really started hitting stride during “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” and it kept the steam the rest of the show. I was amazed how they did a version of “There Must Be An Angel” without a harmonica because the original by the Eurthymics had Stevie Wonder playing it so well. The Angel segment was such a highlight and the last number before the encore, Put Your Hands Up, she had the audience in the palm of her hand. The encore was simply amazing to watch.
Overall, a great show and I hope Kylie comes back to North America again somewhere. Kylie is a class act and so deserved all the fans she has all over the world. You can count the number of female artists on one, maybe two hands that can pull off the truly WORLD tour she is doing this year. I saw one in April, Miss Jackson. I saw another one on Wednesday night. Keep doing what you are doing Kylie, you are our mighty Aphrodite.
I don’t believe you were there – your review is so off base it doesn’t make sense. She totally connected with the audience, best show I have seen in years.
I wasn’t one of the dancing boys in the pit, but I did bring my 20-year old daughter and my wife to the show and we were totally entranced with this spectacular performance. We’ve heard Kyle Minogue before and were expecting a fine show. This actually exceeded our expectations. Great vocals, visually stunning stage set and dancing entourage, enthusiastic audience, etc. We got plenty of bang for the buck in regard to the ticket purchase. I can’t imagine anyone not enjoying this performance. Reviewers usually like to be viewed as someone with some sort of keen insight far above that of the masses. This review was just plain foolish as everyone has already pointed out.
WOW! After reading the comments regarding Mr. Lopez’s review I am struck with just how vicious and personally attacking queens can be… all because he didn’t gush over every aspect of Ms. Minogue’s show. By definition people (critical reviewers) who write reviews are sometimes critical. He did not savage her with nearly the venom the comment “contributors” use to eviscerate Mr. Lopez.
Geez, people! Lighten up on the guy (props to Matt Dominguez for attempting to reason with the highly excitable Kylie fans/Lopez haters).
Seems to me that the reviewer did some of your readers a favor. Just look at all the poison they got out of their system over this; a not-totally-positive review of their diva/goddess/pop star!
Wouldn’t it be better to aim all of that negativity toward enemies of LGBT people by DOING something with your time and ALL that energy sitting on the Internet spewing hate and intolerance toward one of your own gay brothers?
One last thing. Some of you really need to at least turn ON Spell Check. I’m just sayin…
George, I doubt you were there so your post is kinda pointless. What Lopez mentioned is totally inaccurate. If only he was correct in his review, I would have not said anything simply because everybody is entitled to an opinion, but when a “reviewer” mentions things that are completely false, sorry but that pisses me off.
And by the way, being gay doesn’t mean I have to love and support all gay people. We got some assholes too you know. Alright, I’m done with this subject, this guy totally lost credibility and that’s pointless for me to stick around such ignorance and stupidity.
George,
few of us spat out hate and intolerance…it is a POORLY WRITTEN REVIEW, and just inaccurate…THAT is the problem…to suggest that we simply should turn a blind-eye and not “eviscerate” Mr. Lopez is ludicrous…and to further suggest that by commenting we are hurting the “community” is also inane…reviewers are entitled to their opinion; however, when they are guilty of a poorly written review, they are also subject to the wrath that goes with it…as the old adage goes: “if you can’t take the heat…don’t piss off a queen”
Agreed with the ‘poorly written review’ opinions. Perhaps you should do a little research into Kylie before you go see her show and write it up. From this Chicago-based writer, it appears as if you didn’t have nearly enough journalism training and should take some time to brush up on your skills.
It’s your opinion about Minogue’s show… That’s perfectly valid. What I disagree with is HOW you wrote it. You’re simply not a good writer, which is why you’re at a paper like the Dallas Voice in the first place.
I agree with your review, Rich. I was that the show, and you were dead on with your comments. People.. a review is based on HIS opinion of the show. You have yours
I saw Kylie and LOVED the concert. What a gorgeous concert and the energy that she put into it was incredible. She and her crew did a wonderful job and I would not hesitate to see her anytime. She is one of the most gracious, genuine and beautiful performers out there, making so much effort to connect with her audience. Thank you Kylie and welcome back to the US again.
@George & Nina, I realize that a review is “his opinion”… I graduated elementary school (and college)- but thanks for the info. It seems most of the people here were upset because the REVIEW WAS INNACURATE. ONE SONG is mentioned- the opening number. If Mr. Lopez stayed for longer than 20-30 minutes, this review certainly doesn’t show it. Where is the breakdown of her amazing second act? A set list? You’d think “the premier media source for LGBT Texas” would mention her slamming version of “Can’t Get You Outta My Head”, which she performed in a “Moulin Rouge”-inspired can-can dress and top hat. Or her inspired cover of the Eurythmics’ “There Must Be an Angel” that came later. Nowhere to be found. What about her gorgeous, stripped down version of “If You Don’t Love Me”, which she belted from the tip top of the stairs down to each one of our little heartbroken souls (my memory of the audience’s resounding applause during that number obliterates this review, btw)? No mention of the muppet-furry “Put Your Hands Up” (in which everyone did, enthusiastically) or the fan-requested encore, “Your Disco Needs You”?? Sorry, but I’m not just letting the guy off of the hook because he’s a “gay brother”. That is ridiculous and just plain sad. This has nothing to do with anyone’s sexuality. It’s about the quality of the concert, which he obviously misrepresented, and the poor quality of his review, which misrepresented the open-armed reception that Dallas gave her. Like I said, if he had mentioned ONE other song, other than the opener, “Aphrodite”, I might have more respect, but it’s obvious that he didn’t have much time that evening and jetted way before the gig was done. Sorry Mr. Lopez, the respect I once had for you has vanished.
Are any of you people related to Kylie? Were any of you actually IN the show? I can’t understand these reactions to an opinion piece… you’d think Rich had actually gone onstage and stabbed her. These comments are visceral, personally insulting, arrogant, self righteous and above all, ironic, since you are all basically saying “your opinion is wrong, and my opinion is the only valid opinion for all of the one thousand people that were there”. And this is the most commented page on the site? There’s nothing more worthy of outrage than this review of Kylie? Really? I know you all own mirrors – you should go look in one and ask yourself if your priorities need adjusting.
Keep it up, Rich.
Joe, your comments are a much more accurate representation of what I would have expected in a review of that amazing show. Thank you. Maybe the Voice should consider a new entertainment stringer. You also crystalized the short comings of the posted review. I didn’t even realize why the Lopez review was so bad, now I can see it. He simply didn’t review the show; he wrote an essay about his initial feelings of confusion and being overwhelmed. I guess he was scared.
Yeah, contributors like you, rich, are the reason i quit reading the dallas voice. I only looked for this article, because i read about it elsewhere. Anyone who has seen a kylie show knows that this stage was too small for her. She had to down-size, because she’s not as big here as she is everywhere else in the world. When you say that the show was too big, and she wasnt noticable, it’s because we are too busy worshipping Spears and GaGa and pretending Madonna didnt do it 20 years ago. We couldnt have filled the AA Center. Kylie and In-Grid are international bombshells of talent and class, but we prefer trash and wannabes. Perhaps you would have seen kylie if the stage were doubled in size or if your eyes had been open. I hope to God kylie comes back on her next tour, and i thank her for coming to see me here. Happy birthday Kylie!
I’m guessing the reviewer was not a Kylie fan and used this review as an excuse to attack her. The Dallas Voice is always so quick to attack gay icons and our supporters yet they give endless pages to the Log Cabin Republicans ! I am guessing the Dallas Voice is now owned by Republican supporters. Over the past few years the content has deteriorated rapidly and is not being used to bring our community together.
I attended this show and I was knocked out by it. A friend bought my ticket so I wasn’t planning to go and I wasn’t expecting to enjoy it so much. I have never been a big Kylie fan but I have liked some of her singles over the years. This show was incredible. Visually it was the best show I have ever seen and I can’t wait to buy it on DVD. Kylie did a great job on stage and I can’t wait for her to tour again. This show has turned me into a Kylie fan and I’m not ashamed to admit it.
What the heck is this reviewer talking about?! Clearly this reviewer does not know anything about Kylie and her shows. Rich Lopez = fail
I watched the Vegas show with two friends who only knew Kylie from the CGYOMH song. They LOVED it and we danced the whole show and didn’t even sit down! Nobody ever sits down when watching a Kylie show. Now they’re both Kylie fans and would want to see her again perform live.
Smaller or bigger venues, full on or scaled down, it doesn’t matter because a Kylie show is a spectacle. Kylie connects with her audience and you can just feel the energy all around! Everyone enjoyed/will enjoy her show! Uhh except for Rich Lopez, that is!
So Glad I got to see this INTERNATIONAL superstar in London at 02 Arena..where her TRUE fans can appreciate this incredible SHOW girl that can SING, PERFORM, and Dazzle her audience over and over again w/her beauty, grace and Talent..I have been a fan since 1987..The MOST underated singer/performer!..American Audiences haven’t embraced her (primarily because of horrible American Radio Stations that play the same TIRED music over and over but not someone has fabulous as Kylie and MANY other european artists!)…Please come BACK to USA ..We love you Kylie
