Resource Center’s board of directors announced at Toast to Life that it will rename it’s community center building on Cedar Springs Road after its longtime CEO who will be retiring at the end of the year. The building will be known as Resource Center Cece Cox Community Center.

In a statement to Dallas Voice, Resource Center’s Board Chair Christopher LaGrone said, “This honor recognizes Cece’s extraordinary vision and nearly two decades of transformative leadership. Under her guidance, the Center saw an unprecedented expansion of its footprint and its heart, ensuring that the LGBTQIA+ and people living with HIV in North Texas have world-class spaces to call their own.

“Cece did not just lead this organization; she built a home for generations to come. Naming our community center in her honor ensures her legacy of courage and compassion is permanently woven into the structure and skyline of our community.

“The formal announcement was shared at the Toast To Life® fundraiser, surrounded by the community that Cox fought for so tirelessly. We invited all to join us in celebrating a leader whose impact will be felt for decades. Further details regarding this will be provided later this year.”

The Board also “reaffirmed its commitment to the foundations laid by its founders; the profound legacy of John Thomas remains a cornerstone of its mission, ensuring his pioneering spirit continued to inspire every life touched by the center,” Resource Center said in its statement.
