Lyricist Hal David died on Saturday, at age 91. A longtime collaborator with composer Burt Bachrach, David wrote some instantly recognizable pop hits and the score for the Broadway musical Promises, Promises. While he wasn’t gay, he wrote the quintessential anthem “I Say A Little Prayer” — re-popularized in the 1990s by Rupert Everett in the film My Best Friend’s Wedding, and again in this video, performed by some gay bears. I’m reposting in honor of Hal. Enjoy.
