Those demons of flat-track roller derby are back.

On Saturday, the Dallas Derby Devils clash against Pike’s Peak Roller Girls from Colorado Springs, Colo. for the Winter Meltdown.

For this bout, both teams are promising to kick up the action. To comply with the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association’s standards, the 15-minute periods have been extended to 20-minutes.

The Derby Devils, featuring lesbian jammer Lezlie Dean aka “Cherry Cherry Bang Bang,” pictured, are ranked 19th by the WFTBA; the Pikes are ranked 24th.

Advance tickets recommended. Advance tickets, $10. If bout doesn’t sell-out, tickets at the door are $12. BYOB welcome but no glass containers allowed.

The Devils and The Worm

The Derby Devils are teaming up with Denis Rodman to promote his new reality show, “Geek to Freak.” Production begins in Dallas next week. The mission: transform an average geek to lethal roller girl.

Training activities held at Mid-Cities Skateland, 1333 S. Beltline Rd. Irving. Jan 19, doors at 9 p.m. $5 cover and feature guest band Lazer.


Homeboys’ Home Run

Last weekend, the Texas KnockOuts softball team, sponsored by Uptown Vision, went to Palm Springs, Calif., for the Palm Springs Winter Classic Softball Tournament. After going 3-0 in pool play, the KnockOuts finished up the tournament in second place with a narrow 17 -16 loss in the championship game to Chicago’s Cougars, who placed second at the 2006 Gay Softball World Series.
