Several hundred people gathered on the plaza outside Dallas City Hall to raise the official city of Dallas June Pride flag on Friday, May 29.

The city Pride flag flies over Dallas-owned properties during the month of June.

A number of elected officials joined LGBTQ+ Dallasites for the official beginning of Pride month in the city.

City Council woman Gay Donnell Willis addressed the crosswalk controversy by suggesting the steps of the Oak Lawn Library should be painted rainbow colors similar to the steps at Oak Lawn UMC. Conveniently, there are six steps at the library. Cedar Springs Merchants Association has offered to pay for any cost involved.

And if there was one message aside from Pride that stood out during the event, it was Save City Hall.

Here are some photos from Friday’s celebration. As usual, there was no wind — or even a breeze — so the flag didn’t unfurl.
