The big music news of the day is R.E.M.’s announcement that they are “calling it a day.” On their website, the band posted this note followed by comments from band members:
“To our Fans and Friends: As R.E.M., and as lifelong friends and co-conspirators, we have decided to call it a day as a band. We walk away with a great sense of gratitude, of finality, and of astonishment at all we have accomplished. To anyone who ever felt touched by our music, our deepest thanks for listening.”
Queer frontman Michael Stipe had this to add:
“A wise man once said–‘the skill in attending a party is knowing when it’s time to leave.’ We built something extraordinary together. We did this thing. And now we’re going to walk away from it.
“I hope our fans realize this wasn’t an easy decision; but all things must end, and we wanted to do it right, to do it our way.
“We have to thank all the people who helped us be R.E.M. for these 31 years; our deepest gratitude to those who allowed us to do this. It’s been amazing.”
Interestingly enough, the band had released their last album, Collapse Into Now, just this past March. The album was a smart collection of tracks that both showed outstanding maturity for the band as well as a renewed raucous energy that reminded of their early days.
Now, after 30 years, the band is no longer.
• Dallas-based singer Brandon Hilton just released a new video for “Save Me.” The video depicts youth suicide and he’s hashtagged it with #ItGetsBetter as his contribution to the campaign.
Thank you for posting ‘SAVE ME’ I worked so hard on this song and video. I really wanted to shoot something that made people think. I wrote the song for the ‘It Gets Better’ project, and I’m sad to hear that another LGBT youth has taken his life since its release.
We need to work together to put a face on Bullying and stop it in schools to save kids lives. I know how hard it is to be teased in taunted in school, and it only gets worse as an adult. Here I am, almost 8 years later, putting myself out there for what I love and believe in and still being teased and taunted for my art.
I dont do it for the money or fame, I do it because I believe in it, and I believe in the message in this song and video.. sometimes you can SAVE YOURSELF, sometimes you need a little help! together we can change the world.

Brandon wants to be an internet celebrity like Jeffree Star and Chris Crocker. But the few people who know of him, only know of him for being a pathological liar.
Brandon’s entire life revolves around posting about himself all over the internet, trying to create the illusion of fame. He records crappy autotuned garbage on GarageBand and posts it online, often plagiarizing other artists’ work so he can pretend he “collaborated” with them.
It’s tempting to make fun of him, but keep in mind that he is mentally ill, and he can’t distinguish between reality and fantasy.Some of Brandon Hilton’s many ridiculous falsehoods:
1. He claims that his nudes were posted on PerezHilton.com and that he is featured there regularly. 2. He knows Paris Hilton, Mischa Barton, Lindsay Lohan, Lady Gaga, and Ashley Olsen personally. 3. He was raped and molested. 4. His father splattered someone’s brains on his face at seven years old. His mother popped all manner of pills and left him and a sibling to starve. 5. He’s an heir… to something. 6. He has denim, shoe, cologne and jewelry lines. 7. He’s got his own reality show on MTV. 8. He has a contract with the Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency. 9. His autobiography, When The Lights Go Down, is a New York Times Bestseller. 10. His fashion line debuted at New York Fashion Week in 2007. 11. One of his songs was a number one hit in Australia. 12. He was accepted to appear on The Real World. 13. He is friends with Raquel Reed. 14. He used to have a YouTube account with 20,000 subscribers. 15. Kiki Kannibal stole his heart designs. Congratulations Kiki, for once someone actually did copy you. 16. The YouTube account bhilton01 was never his; some person just found his lame videos desirable and stole them. 17. Paparazzi follow him around. In Texas. 18. He is friends with Jeffree Star. 19. He has gotten a role in a major motion picture. 20. He’s done voice work for commercials… he conveniently isn’t allowed to say for whom.
Sadly, many who have dealt with Brandon Hilton in the Dallas Community have had negative experiences. Very unprofessional.

the fact is, I’m working my ass off creating art and people are recognizing and respecting me for it.. If you have nothing nice to say about me, then save it! no one honestly cares! there’s no reason to post lies and “claims” on blogs supporting me, that just makes you look ignorant!
Brandon Hilton is someone who is trying to make it into the business and regardless of what anyone says about him he’s not out for anything but to enjoy life and create music which he enjoys in hopes others enjoy it for him to be able to continue it. Whether 2 or 100 people or more hear and enjoy it then he continues. Regardless of the people who continue to post nonsense in order to discredit him. Whether jealousy, hate, or the fact he wouldn’t date them. Brandon continues to hold his head hight over all of it and has gotten the right kind of attention from the right kind of people in the entertainment world. The people who know him the best have stuck by him including myself and unfortunate since we cannot change everyone’s mind we can at least show what I know to be honestly true of Brandon Hilton. He doesn’t not want to be an internet star like Jeffree or Crocker. He may use they same methods of promotion they do, so do other artists from Gaga to Grimmie. Everyone starts somewhere and to deny anyone the freedom to do what they love regardless of their methods. I’m sure they are never original. 1. Brandon has never claimed to be on Perez. He definitely would love to be featured there has never been one Brandon article of Perez. 2. He does know Paris, has her cell and has off and on been in contact with her but no they are not close. She He has never met nor knows Mischa Barton, Lindsay Lohan or Ashley Olsen. He met Gaga early on in her career. Got to talk to her 5 minutes at a club called S4 back in 2008. Met up with her again at a Veronica’s concert backstage. He does not have her cell nor can talk to her whenever as many have said. 3. He was raped and molested at a young age. as early as 3 by a family member. He was also raped on 4th of July weekend a few weeks back. I know because I got the call and had to go get him and try to convince him to goto the hospital. Not a day we both like to think about. 4. His father did kill someone in front of him. Then turned the gun on Brandon. Luckily there were no bullets. His mother took care of her children and never popped pills. She’s an amazing strong woman and just did the best she could to take care of Brandon and his sister after the event with their father. 5. He’s not an heir to anything. That is the craziest rumor of them all and is in no relation to Paris or the Hilton family. 6. No demin, shoe, or cologne lines. But did have 2 makeup lines that featured colors and names Brandon themed that he worked closesly to make sure it fit his style. Once worked with a jewerly maker to make a lightening bolt necklace. And made a Brandon Hilton bow. Clothing wise he has had Tshirts made by himself on his websites but as for working with companies has modeled their clothing and occasionally receieves it in order to take photos and promote their clothing lines. 7. Never had his own reality show. Was asked to be on Season 3 of Paris BFF on MTV, was contacted by management and a representative flew to Texas to make a video for the show. Nothing came out of it. 8. Never has he had a contract with Janice Dickinson. 9. He has never written an autobiography but would like to some day with a ghost writer. 10. Again no fashion line. 11. His songs have been played on Australian radio and he has a following there. Not sure if he ever placed on the charts but if it was No 1 I am sure he would have toured or at least flown there. 12. No again nothing with MTV and has not appeared on the Real World. 13. No not friends with Raquel. But they know of each other and respect one another. 14. He did have an account with over 20,000. It was around when I first met him. He did get hacked and deleted. He had to start a new one ITSBRANDONHILTON. 15. Don’t know anything about Kiki Cannibal. As long as I’ve known him he rarely says her name if at all. 16. The YouTube account bhilton01 was one his friend set up of him and those are videos that ones taken with him and his friend. 17. No paparazzi follow him around nor have they ever. 18. He’s not friends with Jeffree they have never met but they have heard and respect each other. 19. The only thing major about the movie is the role. He is the lead in an independent film coming on in the near future. He is also working with another director on another project. Nothing is known whether the film wil be released in theaters, online, DVD or distributed in any way. We are just sitting and waiting for it to get finished. 20. Yes he has done voice work in some commercials mostly for his own makeup line which you can find on myspace.. Honestly the person who posted the above is full of lies and I am a direct link to Brandon. you can feel free to contact me for any reliable truth to what has ever been said. Unless it’s from himself or someone close to him you will not find any truth. Focus on your own life and if you support Brandon’s career then support if you don’t then move on. Life’s too short to focus on hate and bullying.
