Appropriately enough for Pride Month, queer country artist Angie K turned up the heat by dropping the official music video for her latest single “Sweatin’” on June 1. The single gives a preview of K’s fifth studio album, Whiskey & Hemingway, produced by John Driskell Hopkins. She released the single after a sold-out show in her home country of El Salvador.
The video was directed and filmed by her wife, award-winning photographer and director Marissa Boucher, founder of The Boudoir Divas who brought a distinct style and look to the video.
Publicity describes the video as set against the dreamy desert backdrop of Joshua Tree, the video leans into freedom, intimacy, and chemistry without watering down who Angie is. At a time when LGBTQ representation in country music still feels far too rare, “Sweatin’” arrives unapologetically queer, romantic, and confident.
“I’ve always loved the views at Joshua Tree, and it felt like the perfect place to capture the warmth and flow of the song. Plus, I love an excuse to travel west for a dreamy getaway weekend with my wife,” Boucher said.
The singer will soon appear at CMA Fest this week in Nashville, a fall tour run with Brooks & Dunn and a third performance at the Grand Ole Opry this month.
The singer has been making an impression in short time. She was named 2025 Origins Impact Artist of the Year; she is a member of CMT’s Listen Up Class, and she also co-founded the Country Latin Association, helping create more visibility and opportunity for underrepresented voices across the genre.
