Tuesday night was a wonderful mix of musical genres as Lunar Vacation opened for Thrice and Manchester Orchestra at Southside Ballroom. It was a fun concert for attendees of all ages.

Lunar Vacation took the stage and started the evening off with two songs from their most recent album, Everything Matters, Everything’s Fire. The Atlanta based band is comprised of five members—Gep Repasky on vocals and guitar, Maggie Geeslin on guitar, Matteo DeLurgio on keyboard, Connor Dowd on drums and Ben Wulkan on Bass.

The band’s music has a very mellow vibe, causing the audience to sway along. Repasky shared that Texas was their last stop before two hometown shows in Georgia this weekend. They then continued with some singles and songs off of their first album Inside Every Fig is a Dead Wasp.

Despite a very simple stage set up, you could feel the heart through the music. They provided a great start to the evening, and connected with fans even after their set at the merch booth.

Thrice kicked off their set with a cover of Mad World. Lead Singer Dustin Kensrue exuded heartbreaker with his soulful voice. The band played through the complete Beggers album, ending with the title song where it felt like everyone was singing along.

They closed out their set with four songs off of their other albums.

Manchester Orchestra finally came out to very excited screams from the crowd. The band is celebrating ten years of their hit album Cope and played through the album. Andy Hull is the only original member remaining with the band, and performed alongside Robert McDowell, Tim Very and Andy Prince. They closed out with three of their hit songs off their other albums, “The Maze,” “The Gold,” and “Bed Head.”

Overall, it was a very fun and lively concert, and Lunar Vacation seems ready to take off.
