Dear friends,
As Pride Month begins here in North Texas and across the country, I want to take a moment to celebrate the joy, resilience, and power of our LGBTQ+ community — and to recommit to the work ahead.

For me, Pride isn’t just a month on the calendar — it’s personal. It’s the reason I ran for office.
It’s the reason I fight every day in Congress to protect our rights, our families, and our future.
When I was elected as the first out LGBTQ+ person from the South to serve in Congress, I brought with me not just a title, but a lifetime of experience — as a wife, a mother, and an advocate who knows what it means to live authentically in a world that doesn’t always make that easy.

And let’s be honest: This year, it hasn’t been easy.

Across the country, we’ve seen a coordinated effort to push LGBTQ+ Americans back into the shadows — from book bans to bathroom bills, from attacks on health care for transgender people to attempts to erase our families from the law.

But let me be clear: We are not going anywhere.

We are building something stronger than fear — a coalition rooted in love, in justice, and in the unshakable belief that everyone deserves to live free from discrimination and full of dignity.

In Congress, I’m fighting for the Equality Act. I’m defending access to health care, including HIV prevention and health care for transgender people around the world. I’m standing up to those who try to scapegoat and silence us — and I’m doing it with my community at my side.
This Pride Month, I hope you take time to celebrate exactly who you are. Dance in the streets. Wrap yourself in every color of the rainbow. Hug the ones you love. And know that you are seen, valued and never alone.

From my family to yours — Happy Pride, Dallas. Let’s keep marching forward together.

With love and solidarity,
Congresswoman Julie Johnson
