North Texas supporters of the water protectors protesting the Dakota Access Pipeline at Standing Rock in North Dakota will hold an interfaith prayer rally Saturday, Nov. 12, outside the Dallas headquarters of Energy Transfer Partners, the company building the pipeline, at 8111 Westchester Drive in Dallas, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The rally will include “a peaceful, mournful procession” past the estate of ETP’s CEO, Kelcy Warren. It is being held a week after about 100 protestors and clergy members held a prayer circle on the lawn of the North Dakota State Capital.
The Standing Rock protestors are fighting to stop the pipeline from being built across sacred lands and burial grounds. They have been pepper-sprayed, shot with rubber bullets, arrested, strip-searched and kept in pens similar to dog kennels.
The prayer rally in Dallas is being staged by Texas-based Society of Native Nations.
