Meet Shay, the matriarch of the cat rotunda at the Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center in Dallas. Shay is a 10-year-old domestic shorthair mix who would very much like to find her forever home as soon as possible. While she is an older cat, Shay is still quite energetic and playful. She has white fur with large patches of black and orange thrown in. She is very and will occupy a lap for about as long as you will let her. Shay doesn’t take very long at all to get to know new people, but a calm home would be great.

A cat tree would be wonderful too. Shay is an FIV-positive cat, which is a completely manageable condition. However, Shay would need to be the only cat in the home or be paired with another cat who is also FIV-positive.

Adult dogs and cats are normally a $75 adoption fee from the SPCA of Texas. Puppies and kittens under the age of six months are $150. Adoption fees vary for small mammals, equestrian and livestock.

Fee includes spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, a heartworm test for dogs six months and older and a FIV/FeLV test for cats four months and older, initial flea/tick preventative and heartworm preventative, a microchip, 30 days of PetHealth Insurance provided by PetHealth, a free 14-day wellness exam with VCA Animal Hospitals, a rabies tag and a free leash.

The Jan-Rees Jones Animal Care Center is open to the public seven days a week 12-6 p.m.

Appointments are required for foster animals. Please browse available animals at SPCA.org/FindAPet and visit SPCA.org/DogAdopt to inquire about a dog or SPCA.org/CatAdopt to inquire about a cat.
