The Palestinian Youth Movement today (Friday, Feb. 14) announced a rally at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, on at the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge to protest “Trump’s ethnic cleansing of Gaza.”

PYM is calling on the DFW community to “mobilize against the United State’s role in Israel’s ongoing violations of the ceasefire agreement” and Trump’s declared plan to take over Gaza.

“The people demand that the U.S. stop enabling the sabotage of the ceasefire in Gaza and that Egypt and Jordan reject Trump’s plan,” according to a PYM press release.

PYM’s press release pointed to Trump’s recent press conference with King Abdullah II of Jordan in which the U.S. president announced his intention to “take over” Gaza, saying, We’re going to take it. We’re going to hold it.” The press release also accused Trump of “leveraging foreign aid to pressure Jordan and Egypt” to cooperate with his plan.

Nadya Tannous with PYM said in a written statement, “Trump is voicing publicly what  Democrats only spoke of behind closed doors — that the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians in Gaza is in the interests of the U.S. empire. No investor, no development project, and no real estate deal can erase Gaza’s history and the right of Palestinians to remain on their land.”
“The U.S. must respect Palestinians’ right to self-determination. Palestine belongs to the Palestinians,” Tannous added.

The PYM press release said that over the last three weeks, Israel has “repeatedly violated each provision of the ceasefire agreement, continuing to target displaced Palestinians with shelling and gunfire, killing over 100 Palestinians since the ceasefire took effect.”

According to news outlet Al Jazeera, at least 62,614 Palestinians and 1,139 people in Israel have been killed since the current conflict began on Oct. 7, 2023. That total includes more than 17,500 children killed and more than 111,599 people injured in Gaza, with another 14,222 missing and presumed dead.

In the occupied West Bank, at least 905 people, including 181 children, have been killed and more than 7,370 people have been killed.

In Israel, according to Al Jazeera, the numbers stand and at least 1,139 dead and at least another 8,730 injured.

In Gaza, Al Jazeera reports, almost all of Gaza’s homes have been damaged or destroyed, along with 80 percent of its commercial facilities, 88 percent of its school buildings, 68 percent of road networks and 68 percent of cropland. In addition at least 50 percent of the hospitals there are only partly functional.

  1. Gays for Palestine is an oxymoron. That’s like “Chickens for KFC” or “Jews for Nazis”. Palestinians KILL gay people, yet the liberal gays seem to worship them. Make it make sense.
