Performing Arts Fort Worth, Cowtown’s  theatrical presenter, has announced the lineup for its seven-show, two-add-ons season for 2019.
The season begins with one of the “extra,” the touring magic show called The Illusionists (Oct. 19–20, 2018), which is a dazzling Vegas-style magic act. The next show is the other add-on, Rodgers+Hammerstein’s Cinderella (Nov. 15–18), which has its own kind of magic with a great score and a reworked book by Douglas Carter Beane.
The “official” season starts with the return of The Book of Mormon (Jan. 22–27, 2019), the irreverent Tony fave from the creators of South Park. That’s followed by another Tony winner, Jersey Boys (Feb. 12–17), about the history of music group The Four Seasons. Fort Worth then gets a recent hit from Dallas, On Your Feet! (April 10–14), the joyous salsa-flavored jukebox musical based on the music of Gloria Estefan.
Anastasia (May 28–June 2), which will play in Dallas this summer, is based on the animated film about the Russian czarina. The Tony theme continues with Les Miserables (June 25–30), based on Hugo’s sprawling novel of young people in revolt. (Sound familiar?) The season concludes with A Bronx Tale (July 23–28), based on Chazz Palminteri’s memoir; and the finally Tony winner for best musical, Fiddler on the Roof (Aug. 20–25).
Season tickets starts at about $38 per show and are available here.
