The Oak Lawn man electrocuted by a downed power line Tuesday night or early today has been identified as 35-year-old Robert Ragan.
Ragan was found dead outside the the Sycamore Tree Apartments, at 5051 Lahoma St., where he lived. Dallas Fire-Rescue officials say Ragan came into contact with a power line that had been knocked down by a tree limb in Tuesday night’s storm. The Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed that Ragan died from accidental electrocution.
Ragan was gay and has been active in the local bear and leather communities, as well as the United Court system, according to reports. He had also worked as a gay porn actor/model who went by the name Robert Elephante.
According to his Facebook profile, Ragan graduated from Mesquite High School in 1994 and the University of Texas at Dallas in 2006, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
A man listed as Ragan’s boyfriend on Facebook couldn’t immediately be reached.
Such a fun-loving and friendly, not to mention extremely handsome, guy Robert Ragan was. Robert, I used to be a neighbor of yours and barely knew you but it did not take long see these qualities that you possessed! I don’t want to say R.I.P., but rather TEAR IT UP Buddy!
You will be missed.
Robert was more then a porn star as the voice reports. He was an amazing person, looking out for his friends before himself. It hurts to find out he passed last night, we will be planning a memorial soon in his honor.
I WAS MARRIED TO ROBERT NOT JUST ONCE BUT TWICE IN MY LIFE….THERE WAS A TIME FOR OVER 15 YEARS WE WERE LIKE SOUL MATES AND THE BEST OF FRIENDS. MY SONS HAVE ALWAYS CALLED HIM DAD BECAUSE HE HAS ALWAYS BEEN THERE FOR THEM THROUGHOUT THERE LIVES, NOT TO MENTION HIS BIOLOGICAL SON ALSO WHO IS DISTRAUGHT OVER THIS…I AM I1 YEARS OLDER SO THIS WASNT SUPPOSE TO HAPPEN THIS WAY. I WAS SUPPOSE TO GO FIRST..HE WILL BE GREATLY MISSED BY ALL WHO KNOWS HIM
Such a sad time for all the gay family, to lose such a Fun and friendly man.I heard of this from a friend in Houston and Im still SHOCKED!!!..My thoughts and prayers go out to his partner and Family,friends.. <);-[)}~ ctxrobb
I can’t believe that your gone. I just talked to you a few days ago. Plaining to go visit. I will miss you so much Robert.
I had the pleasure of meeting Robert in New Orleans during Southern Decadence last year. We talked for a while out on the sidewalk in front of the bar. He was a very nice, charming, handsome person. He will be sorely missed.
I agree with Matthew and am some what offended that the Dallas Voice choose only to talk of his porn career. Robert was an amazing person and a loyal friend. He always knew when you needed to talk and was always supportive of your life and issues. Robert will be greatly missed by everyone who came in contact with him. I’m sure he has already had some cocktails with the angels in heaven.
I think it is sad that the Voice had to mention of his alternative career choice. I didn’t know Rob personally, but I have friends that did. My heart and deepest sympathies go out to his family, partner, and friends at this time.
Why does the Dallas Voice have to be such a$$ holes and bring down a man who just suddenly passed. There is no reason at all to post the he had an alternative career. Truly shows what type of poor journalism this so called newspaper produces. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
You folks make it sound like there’s something wrong with gay porn. Judge much?
Thanks John Wright for your honest reporting! Yes he was a sweet man who had other issues as well but John Wright did not expose those, BUT some of the commenters did! Like Montana who is talking about his porn career, but then goes on to say he is having DRINKS in heaven WTF? Montana was he an alcoholic too like I also heard… He was also on Craigslist selling his dick for $100.00 a pop.. I have a friend who was one of his regular customers… So all of you do gooders, think before you type or THE REST OF THE STORY WILL COME OUT!
Wow OLT… Now you are the one who should be ashamed.
I am his sister and I am sure his family would appreciate it is some people would keep their thoughts and opinions to themselves if they are negative, I loved Robert and yes I know most of those secrets, I accepted him for who he was even if I didn’t agree with some of the things he did, Who are we to judge?
Robert was a wonderful person and I have no problems with his private life. My heart goes out to his sister and her family. Maybe, Mr Wright, he has elderly parents in a small town and they don’t want to see things like that about their son whether they knew about them or not. I don’t see The Voice publishing the names of guys who are busted for pubic lewdness even though they are posted online by the Dallas police. Mr. Wight told me that the fact that a local pastor ruined a family by entering into a relationship with someone who they were counseling was not news even though both were already in committed relationships. I guess Robert didn’t advertise in The Voice!
Robert was the best friend anyone could have, very sweet and non judgemental. He accepted people for who they were on the inside and not what they looked like on the outside. I couldn’t have asked for a better friend. Thank you for being in my life, you will be deeply missed. Always your friend Joe
@John Wright: Touche, friend, touche.
Robert was a amazing guy, no one I know cared about what he did as a career. He was there taking care of himself and he also helped his friends as well. Robert did do porn oh well who cares! He is a hot man and a great guy! You have no right to judge him what so ever unless you truely knew him. He was a great guy helped the community more than some of those that are posting negative comments about him. The good thing is he has touched so many people and he will continue to do so more than what most will have ever done. I am proud to call Robert my Daddy Bear because I always called him that, and he made me smile when I wasn’t feeling to happy about some things. Robert you are always loved and you have always had a special place in my heart. Brandon loved you and I know that he is missing you everyday! Robert just please enjoy your life in heaven because I know thats were you belong, and some day those of us who cared enough about you will be there with you!
You Know, I meet Robert, 1,ONE! time, and talked to him few times on line and He IMPRESSED ME! He was a VERY NICE GUY..YEA, He’s Handsome,SEXY,HOT~MAN.. BUT!! did NOT!! let it go to his head. Robert, thank you for being there for me when I needed you. I will miss you greatly.
I miss your smile & your hugs. My last & happiest memory of you will be seeing you participate in the Cake Walk….I have never laughed so hard in my life. You are truly missed, my Friend. Rest now til we meet again.
I worked with Robert for 4 months before he passed away. I did not know about his previous career but now that I do, it makes absolutely NO difference to me. He was the most caring, happy, sweet and helpful man. If any of us needed anything he would stop on his tracks to help. His laughter and smile made my day every morning. I still miss him terribly. Amazing how one person can have such a positive impact in one’s life in such a short period of time. Miss you dearly my friend
THANK U MIA…U ARE RIGHT. HE WAS AN AMAZING MAN WHOM I LOVED VERY MUCH…I STILL CANT BELIEVE HE IS REALLY GONE…THANK U FOR UR COMMENTS…I’M GLAD HE LEFT A MARK ON UR LIFE..TAKE CARE AND STAY SAFE
I never had the honor of meeting Robert in person . I’m truly sad to learn he is gone . I only ever talked to him via email/texted a few times . Even knowing so little of him , he was a truly wonderful man. I regret not having the chance to meet him in person.
