According to the Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund, lesbian North Carolina State Sen. Julia Boseman won a custody battle with her former partner, Melissa Ann Jarrell. Their child was born in 2002. Boseman did a second parent adoption in 2005, but the couple split in 2007.
