Overview: Mental health virtual seminar

News Is Out is hosting a virtual event featuring mental health professionals and focusing on mental health issues for LGBTQ people

LGBTQ+ mental health challenges are at an all-time high. From rejection and trauma to political attacks and inadequate health care access, the community faces disproportionate struggles.

In honor of LGBTQ+ Health Awareness Week, News is Out — a collaboration between six of the leading local and queer-owned LGBTQ+ publishers across the nation — is hosting a virtual event on March 18 at 2 p.m. CDT to help you prioritize mental wellness.

Tune into the Dallas Voice Facebook page, the News Is Out Facebook page or the News Is Out Youtube Live channels to participate.

We’ll be joined by mental health professionals and advocates —  Dr. Petros Levounis, immediate past president of the American Psychiatric Association (APA), Dr. Christy Hanson of Hanson Counseling and Dr. Noel B. Ramirez of Mango Tree Counseling — who will discuss the unique challenges facing LGBTQ+ individuals and share practical tools for support and resilience.

As a participant, you will be able to get your questions answered live, learn strategies to support yourself and others and take part in a live guided meditation.

Register now to receive a reminder of the event.
