Today is National HIV Testing Day, the perfect time to make sure that you actually know your HIV status to help protect your health and the health of those you love.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, about 1.1 million people are living with HIV in the U.S., “including about 162,500 people who are unaware of their status.”

162,500 — That’s a lot of HIV-positive people who don’t know they are HIV positive. And that’s a dangerous thing because, the CDC says, about 40 percent of new HIV infections are transmitted by people who are living with undiagnosed HIV.

Here in the Metroplex, you have plenty of options for getting tested, which means there is no reason not to know.
