Dallas Police said today that what they had initially reported as a shooting death on Sept. 23 in the 2900 block of Maple Springs has been reclassified as an “unexplained death” based on the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s initial review.
According to an update today (Friday, Sept. 25) on DPDBeat, the Dallas Police Department’s blog, “it is not believed that the man’s injuries are consistent with gunshot wounds. The case has been reclassified as an unexplained death and the investigation is ongoing.”
The man has not been publicly identified, pending notification of next of kin.
Police responded to a call for service at around 4:20 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, in the 2900 block of Maple Springs. (Onitial reports on DPDBeat placed the incident in the 2900 block of Maple Avenue.) Their initial investigation, the blog reported, indicated that the man had been “shot by an unknown suspect who fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival.”
The victim was taken by Dallas Fire-Rescue to a local hospital where he was declared dead a short time later, reports indicate.
