Hatemap

A new “Geography of Hate” map shows where hateful tweets originated in the U.S., based on geotagging, between June 2012 and April 2013. The map breaks down the tweets into homophobic, racist and disability-based tweets, as well as subcategories for each.

Above is a map showing homophobic tweets in the U.S., and below is a look at homophobic tweets in Texas and our specific region. Looks like the most intense pockets are between Sherman and Paris, Texas, and between Ardmore and Durant, Okla. Who knew folks had Twitter or even Internet access in those places?
