The Houston Chronicle is reporting that a Macy’s employee in San Antonio was fired for not allowing a transgender shopper to use a fitting room.
The employee cited her Christian belief as the reason she denied the customer service. Store policy allows transgender people to use either fitting room.
Equality Texas Assistant Director Chuck Smith said, “Go Macy’s! If your religious beliefs prevent you from carrying out the functions of your job for other people — whether that be as a dressing-room attendant, a pharmacist, or a doctor — then you should leave that job. Christianity does not entitle you to oppress others, though you are welcome to oppress yourself.”
Macy’s received a 100 percent rating in the Human Rights Campaign‘s Corporate Equality Index.
Good she deserved it. I mean does/did she actually check every patrons panties to ensure they were female, does she had a Doctors Medical degree?
I mean there are many men who look like women many women who look like men, and Transgender who some if they did not tell you they would never know. Thank you Macy’s I sill shop in Huntsville if you build one.
Bravo Macy’s why shouldn’t someone use a dressing room for one. The addentant isn’t expected to enter that room while the customer tries on clothing. How far does religious doctrine extend?

Bravo to this woman. I, for one, do not wish to be in a changing room with someone of the opposite sex no matter what they are dressed as. The fact remains that even though you are dressed as a woman it does not make you a woman. Thus, the signs on the door, “Ladies” & “Men.”
I am rather tired of hearing about the rights of everyone else. Has anyone ever considered that Christian’s have rights too. Nobody ever thinks about that. Christian’s are just people that deserve to be walked all over. Thank God, yes GOD, that there are still people that will stand up for what is right.

If I’m at ANY store & my wife or daughter is in a dressing room trying something on & a dude dressed like a woman tries to walk in there with him… I’d beat the life out of him! That would be the last time he walked into anything! Next time someone would have to wheel him into a dressing room! I’m with the employee on this one! Last I checked, fitting rooms were designed for individuals. Another thing I last checked involved the fact that a transwoman is a WOMAN. If you’d like to take that up with WPATH feel free.
If you feel “oppressed” because you’re Christian do a little homework on just how damn fine you have it. People in large portions of Africa are denied food on a regular basis because the warlords running their country genuinely want them to die. Roma Gypsies aren’t allowed to gather in public places in most of Europe. Muslims in China have been systematically slaughtered for years. You’ve got it pretty damn good if the biggest thing you have to worry about is putting up with people who don’t agree with you.
Don’t forget that Christians spent several hundred years killing non-Christians and old women under the guise of heresy and witchcraft. If you want to play your “holier-than-thou” card, you might look up the number of civil rights issues that have been thwarted by Christian dogma, like equal rights for women and African Americans.

When I heard the incident on the radio today, I said good for you Macy, people we all have rights, as christians we are told not to be judgemental, ye who judges will be judge harshly by God. To have use religion as an excuse to not allow a transgender woman use the dressing is being judgemental not only to that her, means to me that if I was purple you would refuse me to use the dressing room. No one has the right to tell someone that you cannot go in there because of sexual orientation. And the dressing rooms I have use salesperson does not walk in the room but knocks or ask if you need any help, Thank you Macy for not allowing this woman to work for you anymore. You have kept this customer .
