Members of Lost Souls Rugby

Dallas’ Lost Souls Rugby team is headed to Amsterdam to compete in the Mark Bingham Cup.

Team captain Bruises McGee (Todd Maria) said the team will play in at least 6 games from June 7-9 to qualify for the June 10 championship. Lost Souls is the defending Division 3 champ.

At least 42 teams are headed to Amsterdam. Lost souls has 25 team members going, the maximum number allowed on the roster. Two additional players are planning to go on the trip, but won’t be allowed to play.

The Mark Kendall Bingham Memorial Tournament or the Bingham Cup is a gay rugby union tournament held every other year. The competition, first held in 2002, is named after the gay September 11 hero who was a rugby player.

The send off will be held from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, May 26 with a pie-in-the-face fundraiser at the Round-Up Saloon with free pizza. The team will introduce its new jersey at the event.

The team will send scores during the tournament and we’ll post info as we receive it.
