A few months ago, I blogged about what a hypocrite and bigot Gene Simmons of KISS was by saying Adam Lambert — while admittedly the “most talented” singer ever on American Idol — had ruined his career by coming out because middle America wouldn’t embrace someone so outside the mainstream as a — gasp! — gay artist. (That poor struggling singer Elton John… he’ll make it one day!) This all coming from a man known for his outrageous makeup, spitting blood and living out of wedlock with a woman best known for getting naked.
Now comes this loving tribute from hip-hop producer Warren G in an interview with Vanity Fair. He must say he loves gay people a dozen times… he just wants us herded into concentration camps (well, concentation closets) and kept invisible, lest gay children see real role models, or straight children be exposed to something other than heterosex. There are so many people that still think this way and I just don’t understand it. Personally, I don’t especially like seeing anyone kissing and making out, but it happens on tv all the time. Whether people are gay or not matters no more to me than straight. I would like to think that our world has become more tolerant of gay couples. What’s the big deal, I really don’t understand. I feel sad for Adam to have to go through this, he is such a good person. Well, I’ll hope for him, he’s a fighter.
First, Simmons was trying to stay in the spotlight by being controversial about Lambert. No one really cares about Simmons or his opinion especially, the Lambert fans. When you are as talented as Adam Lambert and as nice, those so called “allies” (or big mouths) just look ridiculous when they say negative things about him. They just look stupid and narrow minded.
I don’t know Warren G but isn’t it funny that someone who’s people had to fight and die for civil rights at one time in this country, would be so ready to downgrade a group of people?
Science will prove, that being gay isn’t a choice or rather, that it’s Mother Nature’s choice and therefore, is just like skin color, eye color, IQ and a talent to sing or produce hip-hop. Anyone who starts herding people into closets for things that Mother Nature chooses should be careful that closet doors don’t get slammed on them some day!
Obviously, Warren G is not a very evolved human being and not very smart either. He has just insulted millions of parents who have gay children and gay relatives (like me) who are smart and know that being born gay is no different than being born black. People cannot choose to not to be born black or gay but they can make a choice about how they treat other people and maybe Warren G needs to go sit in the closet and think about his choice to blast a group of people so carelessly.
@Kate, it is strange that Warren G comes from people that had to fight for their civil rights and now chose to take away the civil rights of others. These same people, people who either had to fight for their civil rights one time or are decendents of those who had to right for their civil rights, overwhelming voted to put discrimination into the California Constitution and take away civil rights of gay people and to take away gay people’s right to marry. What hypocrisy! It’s like the chickens pecking order. We gay people at the bottom of the human pecking order. Sad.
