In Dallas, 14 city council members were up for election. Fort Worth’s entire council and mayor were up for election.

Chad West was re-elected to the Dallas City Council with 58 percent of the vote and will be the only LGBTQ member of the council this term. Omar Narvaez, in Place 6, was term limited out of office. He will be replaced by his chief of staff Laura Cadena, who received more than 50 percent of the vote in a field of eight candidates.

All incumbents that were up for re-election were voted back into office.

New to the council in addition to Cadena are Zarin Gracey, Place 3 and Maxie Johnson, Place 4.

There will be one runoff. In Place 8, Erik Wilson faces Lorie Blair.

In Fort Worth, Mayor Mattie Parker easily won her election to a fourth term. Gay city council candidate Jason Ballman was unable to unseat incumbent Michael Crain.
