Attorney to speak to GAIN

Attorney Rebecca Covell will be the guest speaker at the Thursday, May 27 meeting of GAIN (GLBT Aging Interest Network), presenting "Lessons from the Na’vi — What we can learn from life on Pandora," based on the hit movie "Avatar." The theme is what "Avatar" can teach the LGBT community about the need to plan ahead.

The meeting takes place from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Resource Center Dallas, 2701 Reagan St. There will be a question-and-answer session at the end of her presentation, and hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be served.

Covell, licensed as an attorney in Texas and Missouri, is the principal in her own firm and provides general legal services, concentrating in estate planning, probate and business law.

GAIN is a program of Resource Center Dallas.

UCLSE presents show with TGRA

The United Court of the Lone Star Empire will present the "Rodeo Follies" show at Illusions Bar, 4100 Maple Drive, on Saturday, May 22. The evening begins with a cocktail mixer at 9 p.m., followed by the show at 10 p.m.

Emperor 35 Jeff Germany and Marshal Styers, crown prince royal 35, are hosting the event. Grand Duchess 35 Lips Larue and Mr. TGRA 2010 Jody Harvey are the emcees for the evening.

Entertainers from both UCLSE, Texas Gay Rodeo Association and their guests will perform for tips, and various rodeo themed baskets and gourmet confections will be auctioned during the night.

This event is the second in a series of fundraisers benefiting USLSE charities and the Texas Gay Rodeo sponsorship together. The Big D Rodeo will be held this year at Diamond W Arena on Sept. 10-12.
