LL Cool J in “S.W.A.T.”

Former Alaska governor and former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin debuts her new gig as host of the Fox television show “Real American Stories” Thursday night. New York Daily News says the show is supposed to highlight “people who have overcome adversity and more,” and among those being interviewed were, according to a promo for the program, rapper LL Cool J.
That announcement had some conservative pundits gloating, considering that Palin’s Tea Party movement is considered to be so racist. And yet, here was a black man agreeing to an interview with Palin.
But then LL — who costars in CBS’ “NCIS: Los Angeles” comes out with a Tweet saying, “Fox lifted an old interview I gave in 2008 to someone else & are misrepresenting to the public in order to promote Sarah Palins Show. WOW.”
So a Fox News spokesman says LL was interviewed in 2008 and was told the interview would be used on “Real American Stories,” only Fox didn’t know then that Palin would be the host. Here’s the statement from Fox (by the way, LL’s birth name is James Todd Smith):
“Real American Stories features uplifting tales about overcoming adversity and we believe Mr. Smith’s interview fit that criteria. However, as it appears that Mr. Smith does not want to be associated with a program that could serve as an inspiration to others, we are cutting his interview from the special and wish him the best with his fledgling acting career.”
That’s when I started to laugh out loud. LL’s “fledgling” acting career?! You gotta be kidding me! Just a quick online search shows TV and film credits dating back to 1986 when he appeared in the Goldie Hawn movie “Wildcats.” He’s had TONS of movie roles, including in “Deep Blue Sea” where he was the best thing about the movie, “Any Given Sunday” and “S.W.A.T.” And that’s not counting his roles on T.V. I mean, he had his own sitcom, for goodness sake!
Obviously, the Fox News people are either badly misinformed, or they were just trying to be snotty. Well, if they were being snotty, guess what — I think that one backfired!сайтреклама на экранах в москве
