Roger Lippert received Resource Center’s Martha Dealey Volunteer of the Year award at its annual volunteer appreciation party for donating 1,176 hours of time in 2013 or more than 22 hours per week. The event was held Jan. 26 at the Starlight Room in the Dallas West End.

The award is named for the Center’s former development director who also was a longtime employee of Oak Lawn Community Services.

More than 1,060 people gave over 49,500 hours of their time and talents valued at more than $1 million to Resource Center in 2013.

“Roger’s consistent presence volunteering for the Center, from working at the front desk to taking pictures at Center programs and events, are a commendable example of committed service for our staff and clients,” said Resource Center CEO Cece Cox. “We are thankful for and appreciate his long-term support of the Center.”

Five other volunteers were also recognized.

Andrew Whitlock received the Randolph Terrell Community Service Award, given to a group or individual for exceptional service to the LGBT community and/or people living with HIV/AIDS.

Paul Ramirez was given the Suzanne Wilson Award, presented to the year’s most significant volunteers in Client Services.

Blair High received the John Thomas Award, in recognition as the LGBT Community Center’s exceptional volunteer of the year.

Leuam Douangta was awarded the Bill Nelson Award honoring the Nelson-Tebedo Clinic’s outstanding volunteer of the year.

Ky Fiser received the Bruce Long Award for outstanding development department volunteer.

The Center also recognized 11 volunteers who contributed more than 100 hours each during 2013.
