Casey Johnson, heiress to the Johnson & Johnson pharmaceuticals empire and fiance to reality TV star Tila Tequila, died Monday, apparently of natural causes. She was 30.
Tequila first became famous as the bisexual star of the MTV series A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila, where she “dated” both men and women. Tequila later said she considered herself gay, not bisexual. Recently, she and Johnson announced that they would be wed in Massachusetts.
Johnson has a history of diabetes, which, if it was a contributing factor to her death, would make her the second 30-something diabetic celeb in a month to pass away suddenly. Actress Brittany Murphy died just before Christmas.

If it comes out that prescription meds were the predominant cause then there needs to be a witch hunt because doctors can’t continue to practice modern medicine this way. Look at the laundry list of dead celebs just in recent years: Anna Nicole Smith, Heath Ledger, DJ AM, Michael Jackson, Brittany Murphy and now this. Should overdoses really be this common or have the prescribing practices fallen a little short of ethical? When you’ve got someone who people want to manipulate like an actress or musician, or someone with a laughable estate claim (hey those enablers can dream can’t they) then there will be attempts to control that person……but as a civilized society we need to have measures in place to prevent them from poisoning their “friend/spouse.” This is unacceptable, and the courts and the medical community need to make an example out of any people contributing to these deaths.
No one makes these people take excess medication. How about some personal responsibility?
I agree that ANS, Brittany Murphy, Michael Jackson, etc. were responsible for their own actions, but that doesn’t mean that others don’t bear some guilt as well. Bottom line: somthing must be done to make it harder for these celebrities and their sycophants to get their hands on and abuse prescription drugs. Hopefully when Howard Stern and the two doctors in the Anna Nicole Smith trial are found guilty, it will be the wake up call these people need!
