JR.’s Bar and Grill, on the corner of Throckmorton and Cedar Springs Road, joined the Texas Rainbow War by adding a high-tac vinyl rainbow wrap around the building. The installation wil take about three days.

The move is in response to Gov. Greg Abbott’s order to remove all rainbow crosswalks from the streets of Texas. The city of Dallas joined Austin and San Antonio in requesting an exemption based on studies that show rainbow crosswalks are safer than white stripes. Houston and Galveston surrendered immediately and scraped up their rainbow crosswalks as quickly as they could.

JR.’s rainbow is the third one added to the Strip since Abbott’s order. Oak Lawn UMC painted its main entrance steps in a rainbow and Salon Aura painted its awning in rainbow colors. Cedar Spring Merchants Association promises more rainbows on Cedar Springs to come.
