Both The Hidden Door and Alexandre’s, which closed earlier this month in an effort to help stem the spread of the highly-contagious omicron variant of COVID-19, expect within the next week.

Harvey Meissner, president and general manager for The Hidden Door, told Dallas Voice today (Thursday, Jan. 27) that his bar, at 5025 Bowser Ave., will re-open as of 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 1.

And Lee Daugherty, owner of Alexandre’s, announced today that his bar will re-open at noon next Friday, Feb. 4. “The pandemic is NOT over, but, looking at data and trends, we feel that our mitigation strategies previously in place will allow for a safe workplace and guest environment.

We know our abrupt closure was disruptive to many of our guests, but by taking bold measures kept us, our guests, and the community safer,” Daugherty said.

He noted that during this most recent COVID-caused closure, he installed a new point of sale system, migrated the club’s accounts to a new bank, rolled out a new payroom system, finished the 35-page handbook, Alexandre’s Manifesto, which he called “probably the most progressive labor-centered document to ever be in a workplace.”

Daugherty added that construction of professional underbar craft stations, expansion of the bar’s refrigeration facilities and installation of a new dishwasher all are in process and will hopefully be finished by next Friday.

There is no word yet on when Dallas Eagle, which originally closed in March 2020 at the start of the COVID pandemic, will re-open. But owner Jeffrey Payne said this week that the bars fans and patrons should watch for an announcement sometime in February.
