After posting Brandon Hilton’s newest video last month, I got an e-mail from “Emmy™ Nominated Film, Television and Music Producer J. Michael Brown,” informing me about another local pop singer. According to Brown’s e-mail, Chris Sapphire is a Dallas-based artist and radio/TV personality who just released a new video.
But first, I have to say that Sapphire is also part of the MZLive Internet radio team. Seems a lot like Rational Radio with an apparently higher profile. I checked out the site after reading Sapphire’s bio and checked out the latest webisode. I was kinda stunned when the show opened with Sapphire happily drinking Four Loco. Bad timing for days.
Anyway, Sapphire’s debut video, “Shake Your Ass,” has its catchy moments. Nothing complex, but I could get into the groove a bit. And I dig his Tina Turner momma.
Perhaps Dallas is becoming the home of gay glam pop. Like Hilton, Sapphire does the lip gloss gender-bending glam thing. What’s also similar is their approach to music stardom. Using aggressive social networking and web presence, the two are pushing that into a music career. Now we just have to wait and see where that takes them and subsequently, whether it makes Dallas the glam pop capital of the world.

It is beyond me to comprehend why this blog insists on legitimizing the vapid drivel produced by Brandon Hilton and the like. Hilton sings (and I use that word loosely) about “bootyholes” while Sapphire attempts to sing about “passing gas”. Dallas Voice, please stop this nonsense.

I don’t know how Brandon Hilton and Chris are considered pop singers or singers at all in this case. They are nothing but auto-tuned sellouts. Just cause they add the world to their Facebook does not make them near internet web “stars,” Can we blog about real musicians instead of make-up wannabe gagas?
this guy is a makeup artist, Brandon Hilton is an actual artist. he has two albums out, and his music is in Hot Topic now. thats being a legitimate artist, new music on every single media purchase site on the internet and new album going in real stores.
just because someone releases a song doesnt make them a glam pop star, if he gets this trash on iTunes you might have my attention, theres a reason its being given away for free.

to J: maybe you should turn on a radio, Brandon Hilton’s music isnt about ‘bootyholes’ anymore, that was 3 years ago, his new single ‘Glamour Zombie’ is getting legitimate airplay and he’s doing talk shows now promoting it.

but in J’s defense I do agree, this Sapphite dude is a joke, his music is pointless, the beat is shit, the vocal editing, recording & mixing is crap. It sounds like a bad knockoff of Brandon Hilton, he even steals some of the same lyrics from Brandon’s song ‘I Just Wanna Dance’
needless to say the only ‘legit’ Glam Popstar coming out of Dallas that could actually make it into the mainstream would be Brandon Hilton, this Saphite kids pill is a little to big to swallow.
I cant thank this blog enough for turning me on to Brandon Hilton’s music, you made me a huge fan, It is correct when people call him ‘The Male Lady Gaga’ I see the potential all over him. I think he’ll do big things this coming year.

I’m saying that Chris and Brandon are so freaking fabulous, I’m going to buy and download everything by them! Especially “My Bootyhole” by Brandon Hilton. Anyone remember Tom Robinson? He could have learned a lot from these guys, DALLAS IS TAKING OVER THE WORLD!

One downside of pervasive social media – having a ridiculous number of friends apparently equates you to being “popular” and a … “star.” Please. DV, please do a better job of reporting something noteworthy, rather than vapid trash. Articles like this make me wish I’d never come out of the closet. FORBID anyone associates this trash with me just because we both label ourselves as “gay.” Blech.
I would bet money that Lea Vanity is Brandon using an alias, it reads like one of his phony posts. Now he’s doing these Brandon Hilton featuring whoever crap, show me any evidence of Brandon Hilton and Lady Gaga doing anything with substance together. Where has Brandon been performing? Surely someone with his fame and talent would be touring. I did see footage of him on a small outdoor stage with a really classy folding table and out of sync dancers, it was kiddie talent show quality with lip syncing to a CD. I can take anyone without a serious speech impediment into the studio and they will walk out with a simply fabulous CD, all you need is loops and beats and saturate the crap out of the vocal effects. It’s that easy. With people like Brandon, Chris and Jefree Starr it’s not about talent or musical ability it’s about gayness and that’s what makes it a joke but I guess you folks at the Dallas voice are too busy singing along to Brandon’s “I fucked a boy and I liked it” to notice.

Brandon is a effeminate heterosexual at best, to him being gay is more of a fashion statement/I’m such a bad boy thing. I should set up a store like Glamor Shots where you come in and leave with fashion photos, a CD with heavily auto tuned vocals and a music video. It really wouldn’t be that hard, a Green Screen for the video shoots would be the most expensive item. The customer would need to write a little poetry, I could keep a dictionary of rhymes to assist. If people would settle for Heavily Auto Tuned vocals and a slide show video like most of Brandon’s I could do that for a reduced rate, you could even come back and I could remix your songs for a reduced rate so you could have remixes just like Brandon. And what’s up with Brandon’s body? He makes your average person ready to die from HIV look like a body builder. With that nose and that body he could be a prisoner in a movie about a Nazi death camp. Without his Brandon Hilton persona he would be just another skinny effeminate white guy that couldn’t get laid. He really isn’t any more than that with his Brandon Hilton persona. Chris Sapphire on the other hand has a dorky kind of R rated MTV appeal.
