In the Arizona tragedy reportage, I keep hearing this or a similar line tossed around as just a minor point. As in: The perp was born, grew up, attended and left college, got access to a weapon, put on his jeans, ate some food, had some degree of mental disturbance, took a few breaths, then committed a heinous act. As if acquiring a man-made instrument of murder was just par for life’s usual course.
Why? Why is the act of acquiring a gun just another lifestyle choice available to far too many? And when can we start talking like adults bout the fact that guns allow weak people to kill others with the spineless click of a finger?
